I got 42k on my 86. I was going to use it as my DD, but then I made the mistake of getting a 996tt. Kinda killed the DD idea for the 86. Will have to use that as a weekend warrior now.

Couldn't say it any better...
As for myself, I have a 84 Targa with just a few miles under 150k miles. I drove this as much as I can. But the gas mileage, thats a different story.

I'm with you, brother.
It was a quiet New Year's Day and I decided "the baby" and I needed some "bonding." I took the covers off, backed her out the driveway and spent 2 hours on the autobahn - without any regard to mileage.
I drove 226 milesUS in about 1.5hrs (do the math to figure my average speed), came home to the garage, covered her up; I felt so much better - again without any regard to mileage.
Of course, I have no plans to get rid of the car either.

had 30k miles on my last 2005 997s in one year then traded in for a low mileage 997S 4k miles, 1 yr later 9k miles 1k track miles...black car, tough to keep clean, have a DD e46 325i, low maintenance, low profile, people leave me alone at the redlights, and already has lots of dings..something nice about driving a DD beater......and REALLY hard to drive the carrera at a normal rate of speed on the street (pulled over for 100mph in 35 zone, let go 
with warning) even with V-1 detector you drive fast you get caught one day..so i drive the carrera less onstreet and more on track...but i do know the in FL one of the biggest problem in the carreras is in the seasonal people who leave their car dormant for 5 months, lots of oil leaks.....car needs to be driven regularly...and very fast

I'm over 218K miles on my 87....I rebuilt the engine at 100K miles in 94 and it's still running strong on that engine!!! The body and interior look like new, still original paint. Service regularally is the secret....for both the engine and the body....

Only 50K on a eight year old car? Your car stays in the garage much too long between each road trip.

Rep Power: 31 The weather has improved here so I put 220 miles on my Porsche, today.
I drove through the north Georgia mountains, and there was no one on the road. I just returned and filled up the tank after leaving with a full tank. Go figure, a 2200 pound 2.7L gets 15 mpg on 93 octane. The fun factor was worth every penny of gas (and more).
