Yeah, it'll break down pre 85.5, post 85.5, or S, or S2.

If you could get 8K I'd take it and run. The miles aren't so low that it could be a museum piece, and anyone who bought it as a driver would get creamed on resale after a few years.

You may find some die-hard enthusiast that is in love with the 944. You may want to have AIC Auto (http://www.aicauto.com) list it for you. He charges a bit more than typical, but he does have some outreach to people looking for rare porsches that you normally wouldn't find.

I think you'll have some trouble extracting any decent value out of it. I simply don't know any enthusiasts who would be interested in a base model.

The 83's are the lightest and had the manual steering....if it were higher mileage it would be a good base for a track car...but it would stink to take a nice low mileage example and track it.

I've been to AIC, he always has really nice stuff, pricey though. And he's near Penna Dutch country, so be careful where you drive-buggies and horse poop on the road.
