Thoughts: It is a total beast when supercharged! check out 928 Specialist's supercharger package for the 32v. https://www.928gt.com/default1.htm

Here are a couple of videos. The red one is an '89 GT making 540rwhp, and the black one is an '87 S4 A/T making 511rwhp. Both are stock except for the supercharger installations and cat bypass pipes.

I am considering this on my 88 S4.

They are really fun to drive, and mine is stock except for bypass.
I can't imagine what the sc will feel like

I have driven one with a vortech and ridden in a twin screw. Different kinds of power, the twin screw is strong from low rpms and the vortech doesn't get going till about 4k rpm or so.
With a 5 speed you could go either way, but in an a/t the twin screw would be a better choice.

I only know of sc'ed 928s that still have problems to work out, but I'm sure there are many that are completely de-bugged.

Are you looking for a nice 5 speed? A friend may part with a low mile '90 GT soon around my area.
Budget? $$$

I don't know what Vortech setup you drove, but I'm going to have to disagree. The cars in the videos I posted links to above are both the Murf928 centrifugal setups. I've got experience with direct comparisons of that black '87 S4 a/t in the video to a twin screw supercharged '91 GT. Even with the S4 being an a/t with the 2.20 rear gearing and the GT being a 5-speed with the 2.73 gearing, the centrifugal S4 a/t is quicker from 0-60, quicker in the quarter mile, makes more top end power, and makes more torque on the dyno absolutely everywhere from idle all the way up to redline. Same dyno, same day, one car right after the other, both engines stock and original other than the supercharger installations.

The twin screw does make more boost down low, but more boost isn't necessarily more power. Boost is just a measure of pressure in the intake. It's an indicator of how backed up the air is, not how much air is actually getting into the cylinders. A fair number of people seem to be underestimating the value of the stock Porsche intake manifold that's retained with the centrifugal, as compared to the manifolds that have been used with the twin screw setups.

My biggest point is that the people I know with sc set ups are constantly tuning and are not "there" yet. However I do have 100% belief that if you bring your S4+ car to Murph and do the install there with sharktuner tuning the outcome will be good. He has the knowledge and experience with his own set up to dial it in.

The other twin screw from 928 Specialists I don't have as much info on, but they use the sharktuner also and are working all the bugs out.

Personally, I am not so interested in a sc for my car because of the reality of keeping a 20 year old 928 at 100% running condition. If these were newer, easier cars I would think differently. I have been more than happy to have a reliable S4 5 speed that runs the way it was intended. When mechanically restored, there is a lot of performance there.

My 2 cents.

i know this will be a horror to some of you but I built a all alloy smalll block chevy for one. Brodix block,18 deg heads,434 inch. It went in a five speed red 928gt the motor dynoed at 693 hp. The car was a beast.. and looked totally stock, everything worked.

I wouldn't kick it out of bed. Lots of the sbc change-overs are not done by top notch shops, so most 928ers have a bad opinion of them.

The stage 3 kit has been available for a while already. I'm not sure, but I think that the 85-86 kit will probably get done before spring. It's a little beyond the stage 3 kit, but here's a rear wheel power dyno chart from a supercharged '87 A/T 928S4 that's owned by a friend of Tim's up there in Green Bay.
