Well, like most true projects, you start with a turd like this He is working on it to look just like the orange porsche above! Right now the wide body is completed. He already bought the Work Wheels from us and he is trying to get it ready by Jan. I will be maintaining a galley here - http://www.vividracing.com/forums/ga...ages.php?c=377

Looking good. Starting with a turd is a must. Here is what I was thinking pricewise, am I way off.
Car 15K
Bodywork + paint 10K
Engine refresh with bigger turbo 15K
Interior 2-5K
Suspension 2K
Wheels 3-5K
So around 50K when all done. Does this sound about right or am I way off.

Non turbo car would be about $10-$15K. I think a turbo is more around $20-$30. You never know what kind of deals you can find with this economy. Ideally you just want a good engine and trans. Car can look like an abortion!
Bodywork and paint I think you are right on. Probably pick up some aero parts from MaShaw/Getty Design.
Interior do what ZLP did and strip it, throw some racing seats, harness, full cage paint matched and welded, dress up the dash with gauges, add a stereo.
Suspension could be some simple Bilstein or even Koni with H&R springs or something. Street car.
Wheels like the car above would be around $3000. Ad tires yeah your touching $5000. He got 18x9 and 18x13!!!
Give me the chance to be apart of this project so I can live vicarious through you. This is probably an easy 4-5 monther.

Yeah i low balled the turbo for sure.
Ha ha it would be a fun project indeed and have been thinking about this for quite some time. Dan, as you now know, these things have to be handled delicately with the Wife.
I may be ready in late spring early summer if all goes well.

IMHO from working in the Porsche business you are pretty far off if you wanted top notch work at a good shop.

So where am I off? On everything or one part in particular. What is your professional opinion on each part of the project. Keep in mind I would build this for the street not the track.

I am not going to quote you prices but I would suggest going over to a place like Patrick Motorsports and talk to Jim Patrick about doing a build. There are very few places these days that actually do things right and he is just about the only one in Phoenix that is a one stop shop. I think you will be surprised when you find out what a real paint job and motor rebuild cost now.

Dan-
Don't let Steve fool you... I bet he spends plenty of time feeding peoples additions in the ER! I heard he's the guy to go to if you have a thing for Dilaudid.
Just kidding Steve! This would be a really cool project but I think I tend to agree with ZLP on this one, going to be bigger $$ than it might seem like up front. Spend a little time over on Rennlist and Pelican forums and you'll be blown away at what some of these things cost.
If you get a chance, check out Zack's car. I saw it over at DJ's when I was having some work done. Maybe not as bad *** as the build in question on this thread, but one sweet, sweet ride.
