CaptainCalf,

What ECU are you planning on running? I have a similar project (though its stalled waiting for my twin turbo headers to come back from the fabricator). I have a Motec M600 fully optioned that I will be running. My motor is back together and just needs the cams timed.

Bill, I haven't decided yet. I'll be running a Carrera intake with heads ported to match, but that's about as far as I've gotten on that so far.

What kindda hp/torque numbers are you shooting for?

Thanks,
RC

I am looking for 500/500. Similar builds have produced 550HP/500Tq. My engine is different in that it is a short stroke 3.2 (originally a 3.0 Turbo motor)so I can rev a bit higher than a 3.3 Turbo so we will see what she makes. I would be perfectly happy with 500HP though. The car is so light and fast before I took it appart It will take me some time to be able to tap into all the power it will have.

Yep, I'd be happy with anything close to 500

I see you are just across the state from me. I have TONS of information for EFI conversions as well as other mods for our cars. Anything you need drop me a line. I used to have a connection to get Motec products (did a 25K group buy a few years back) but it has since disolved. I am looking for a local Motec Tuner to do my final tune if I have issues myself. Take a look through my Flikr pictures of the project if you get a chance here

Thanks! That motor look sweet and that IC is huge! Is it a Fabspeed IC?

Have you called JB Racing yet in Tavaras? I'd bet Mike Burns could help you set that motor's tune up perfectly. He doesn't work Fridays, but you should talk to him cuz he's a wealth of knowledge!

My IC was made by MODE. It has billet CNC tanks and Wiggins clamps on the inlet side.

I would certainly consider JB if they are familiar with the Motec ECU. They have a great rep.

By the way, Here is a link to a thread on another site. Its long....about 25 pages. It is a car that was transformed by Turbocraft in Arizona for a site member. The results are just sick! Unbelievable numbers on stock boost. Insane numbers when they turned it up. The owner just got the car back a few days ago (the project started a year ago). Lots of great info in that thread.

500 hp seems a conservative goal. I'm getting 425hp at the rear wheels at 1.2 without EFI. 3.4 motor, garrett turbo, ruf intercooler, 7th injector keeping it nice and rich.

Yes, I followed that thread and that car is sick. Can't even fathom the amount on $$$ that went into it

Agreed Eric, but it's been my experience to build it to be bullet proof and take the results as they come. If I end up with 500 at the wheels then great, but I'm sure & you'd prolly agree that 425 is plenty

I also agree about building it right. I built mint to hold up to much more power than I will ever get out of the motor. 500 would be plenty for me as well. I have thought about taking on another engine build after this one is done to take it up another notch though.

When I used mine I had a hard time with the rod bolts that came with my Carrillo rods. The ends of the bolts had an inconsistent surface that was not perpendicular to the bolts. If you moved the stretch gauge it would change readings. It was nearly imposible to get repeatable measurements.

Yes, I could see where that would be a problem. I guess you just torqued them to around 40 ft-lbs and called it good?

The nice thing about APR rod bolts is they have index holes in both ends to hold the gauge
