964 to 965 motor build in midwest

Question,

I have an 89 911 (964) c4 that several years ago we installed a KKK27 turbo with a protomotive intercooler and AIC on the stock motor. Only running .5 bar. The car has run quite well but is now having quite a bit of blow by. Certainly a swap to 965 pistons/cylinders is in order. The porsche dealer in St. Louis has no interest in this. The shop in IN where I have had some mods performed in the past is "scared of what he may find". I don't see what the big deal is. Is there anyone in the midwest that has has a shop that could tackle this (what seems to me a realtively simple) task? The car is in Missouri, but can be taken whever required.

TIA

Ben

Well, it seems as though the shop has gone through some "restructuring" and the car has been transported to another facility to continue work. CRAZY long time, though.

well..........

So finally my brother in law picked up the car this week. Motor has been rebuilt but that's where it ends. It's strapped on a pallet, everything else is in boxes. Stephen is unable to do anything else with it. Short story--he lost his job, closed the shop, etc.

Anyway, I'm going to pick up the car this weekend in MO and bring it back down here to Houston. Hopefully I can find a competent shop to finish the job and not take another year to do so.......

What a disappointment........

Anybody know a shop in Houston that will finish assembly and not fuss too much about most of the job being performed by someone else?

THANKS
ben

I think there are many competent shops here. Here is a short list though its late. I highy recommends the follwoing based on past experiences and reputation. Of course, this is my opinion and some may disagree. Good luck and let me know if there is anything i can do to help.

SportsCars (Cliff) (air or water)

Lawell Motorsports (Terry) (Air or water)

Motorwerks (Akram)

ProTechnik (Sam, if he still there)

Advantage (Hans)

I read on Rennlist about Imagine Auto going belly up awhile ago. That really sucks but hopefully you will be able to get everything back together relatively easily. Hopefully this Stephen is a stand up guy and will assist with phone support etc on what has been done and what needs to be completed.

Thanks everyone. I am leaving tonight to pick up the car. Supposedly the motor is completely reassembled and ready to go. Stephen couldn't find a flywheel?????? So he strapped down the motor on a palate and put everything else in boxes. Wish me luck. I'll call a few of these guys to explain the situation and see who is comfortable going from here.
