RUF RCT Evo @ Cars & Coffee

Quote: My car cost me close to $130,000 back in 2001. There is no way that you can build a similar car for less than $150,000, including the cost of a cheap C2 or C4.
Of course it all depends on if you buy one built or want to go through the process of having Mr. Ruf make your's to order. Having Ruf build you one will always cost more....like having a Savile Row suit made for you...that must be a fabulous experience.

I've seen pics of that car before and the interior is fantastic.
Nick....glad you confirmed the obvious.....there are two RCTs in that color here in US now...the other was recently in Atlanta but was a lightweight for track use...a beautiful color....that green Ruf uses is choice. Seems green is Ruf's favority color.

Awesome...about 322ish KPH....that should put right around 200 mph....sweet!!!
So your car was black before....silver certainly is timeless and classic.
Did you snap any pics of the IRC in the engine compartment?....where did it connect in the front of the car...straight down of the door sill or straight through to the front trunk....Louis and the boys do really nice work.

The car was black. Alois stripped it to the bone and replaced the roof skin, fenders and doors.
The IRC tubes go down to the door sills and each of the A pillar tubes connects to the other tube through a tube behind the lower part of the dash board (above your knees). This connecting tube is not included in the standard IRC and was covered in carpet. We had to remove the glove compartment to accomodate the connecting tube.
The tubes in the back stay inside the cabin.
I also added removable tubes for the doors and removable cross tubes in the back of the car. The car is very solid.

That's very nice. Did he use carbon for the roof, doors and fenders?
I bought an aluminum cage from Ruf, but I think if I could do it again, I'd go w/an IRC....I should post a few pics of my car, unless you've seen it in Excellence (11/08) or 911&Porsche World (4/09)...its the GPW 964 w/993TT engine w/lots of Ruf bits. Ruf likes this set up and if he's building another RCT, I bet he uses a 993TT engine....and 6-speed LSD gearbox.

The two cars are very different. The RCT is more like the old 911s. Although the GT2 is a rough car compared to the post-993 911 cars, it is more comfortable to drive than the RCT. Although I like both cars a lot, if I could only keep one I would keep the GT2. I will tell you more, I had a Ruf Turbo R (993 based) which I liked more than the GT2 and the RCT. I felt so secure driving that car over 200 mph; I do not feel secure driving the GT2 at that speed.
Please post pics of your car.

Yes, I agree. I've driven several GT2's and while my car is quicker than a stock 2, I can say the 2 is so stiff it tends to bounce and twitch all over the place. Its hard to feel confident driving it when the wheels are in the air....I find it better to drive at speed on highway than on canyon roads; the 2 is a car you drive ALL THE TIME. I think the standard 996TT is a far better street performance car as it tends to give the confidence you describe about your 993TT. But the standard TT will never give you the feeling that you are in something very special the way the 2 does. Great cars. I wish you lived closer I'd give you a blast in my lightweight 964 w/993TT engine...its the best of the old and new....really a lovely and fast drive.
