Susy 991, great write up.. Question, if in the 991 turbo S, and you were in 1st gear (sport mode, manual flipper is used to change gears) and you forgot to shift to 2nd and hit the rev-limiter, would the pdk trans shift into second automatically or would engine die like one finds with the manual box if driver is day dreaming and reaches 40 m/h and forgets to shift into 2nd???

This is normal for dual clutch cars (depending on the mode).

[QUOTE=Suzy991;4025102]That's exactly how it is indeed Jaspar. It just bounces off the rev limiter.
Does this mean the engine dies like with a manual? With a manual, shift into second and off you go. With the pdk, you are saying engine dies, so if you shift by finger-fiipper into second, does it take off or is there more delay???
I am asking this because I was told by a porsche tech that in the sport mode, if rev-limiter is hit, the trans will immediately shift to second gear automatically. They say trans will do this only in sport mode.

But for reference, the very first time I drag raced my GT-R (back in 2008), I did this exact scenario, and my car upshifted (1-2) by itself. I didn't notice until I hit the rev limiter in 2nd. I was wondering what the hell happened.
And on the C4S (that I raced), the engine doesn't really 'die', as much as it 'flutters', feels like about a 200-400RPM drop, then re-acceleration.

Thats too bad but probably a great decision since you have the beautiful M550 Xdrive which is a incredible car in my opinion and more versatile anyway .

After lots of discussing and BS with the very arrogant dealership, I have my SQ5 back that I traded for the BMW. (luckilly it wasn't sold yet). I'm not finished with them yet... I've promised that to myself.
I went back to my Porsche/VAG-dealership and I've ordered a new A6 Avant 3.0 BiTDI, so I'm back to Audi and will stay there for now. Never had any problem with current and former Audis. With a bit if luck I'll get it in two weeks.
