Question Are LED Headlights worth the cost?

Hello, all.
I ordered a 2016 tt cab and I am wondering if the LED headlights are really worth the money. I can modify my order for now.
I had the xenon on the 997, worked fine to me but i have never seen the LED's.

What are your thoughts and knowledge on these?

Thanks

They are worth every penny, in my opinion. Here is a link with some comments. Opinions may vary.

I like them. I think that they illuminate the road better.

Have both kinds on my Porsche's and the LED's are easier for me than the bi-xenon's in the Panamera GTS. Both are more than adequate for me so it is not clear that spending a lot of money to switch to LED's is worthwhile. I never realized that there were such strongly held views on either. All I know is what I see, so cannot recite technical terms or debate them as they appeared in the referenced discussion. Perhaps we shall all learn in time that LED's are inferior technology, as one poster argued, but I doubt it very much.

Since driving these amazing machines is what is important to me, and given the exceptional engineering of all Porsche's, including lighting, I concentrate on improving my driving skills, not modifications to my cars. (I'll allocate funds to PSDS rather than modifications). If a few yards of less light means that I have to slow down, then so be it.

I like the LEDs simply because I can see more sharply and further with them at night, so I strongly prefer them from a safety standpoint. Just as HID/Xenon headlights succeeded halogen, some other tech may surpass LED, but for right now I'd take LED over any other headlight system. JMO and not based on any published data, just my own experience.

If I were the OP, I would go down to my Porsche Dealer in the evening and get a bit of test drive experience with an LED HL equipped car, then make your own choice. Best way. What I post is my own opinion, and not right or wrong, like any other.

In my situation, the LEDs were standard and already on the car in the first place, but I am glad I have them.

My eyes are not as razor sharp at night any longer, so would never would buy a car without LED's, its that important for superior lighting. I also think, it helps other cars seeing you quicker too.

It was not a deal breaker for me but it is the only option I wish I had gotten on my car. I bought the car off the lot, but had I built it I would have clicked the LED lights. The cost is a rounding error and the LED lights are better than the BI Xenon lights, do not anyone convince you otherwise.

I think the LEDs are better than the bi-xenons (I've had them both on a 991). I would spec the LEDs again in a second. On a TT they're a rounding error.

What do you mean by rounding error?

Well on a 175k car 3 grand is insignificant. I spent 2800 bucks retrofitting red seatbelts and another 6k on an exhaust haha. So I wouldn't obsess on the option. If you like them click the box.

Exactly what Tommy said. On a car that costs about $160-$170k, the LED option isn't a large swing either way. Granted, I don't think that Porsche should charge close to $3k on LED headlights on a $150k+ car, but I think a lot of the options should be standard. That's Porsche marketing and customization for you. I thought the option was worth it, so I sprung for them and am happy I did.

I got the LED lights because of the daytime running lights look cool. Otherwise I wish they had a "blacked out" version like you can get with the Xenon lights.

They look killer, its a must have option. Is it worth it? Yes. Are we being overcharged for this option? Yes.
