A short Video from F1 today

The first practice session was wet but the cars were still running fairly quick. It dried out toward the end of the session and the Masters cars got to run on a nearly dry track. I took a video of some of the action on one of the non-pace car laps at turn one. The rest of the day was rained out. Going to the F1 race was a blast even in the rain. Looks like rain all weekend but I will be back out there every day rain or not.

Hope so but shifter_ and me both need some letup on the rain this weekend. What a deal, it's been dry as a bone since June and on the F1 and Texas Mile weekend we get a deluge.

That was a very wet and cold weekend. We got to Friday's events and spent and hour and a half on the tower (sad about P2 being cancelled). Saturday was a joke! I thought is was too dangerous (especially since we lost Jules from a simularly wet track in Japan). We got to the race at 830 which made it a long day! The wind was high and the temps were low and the mud was plentiful. A very unpredictable race (very unlike all the others). We were in the Grandstands at turn 1.

Yeah we were in the grandstand on Turn one in parking lot T. We had T1 grandstand seats in the perfect location, I thought. On Friday we saw qualifying and an a Masters Racing event and then at 1:30 it started raining a bit so we made our way back from turn 19 at the muscle car show to our seats and got told we couldn't sit down because of lightning so we stood under a bar tent and then it started coming down hard for almost an hour. It was a little party in there and there were people who had been to 40+ F1 races and pretty much followed it around. Saturday I took a friend and drove the RR in sideways rain to get there for the noon opening. We just sat in the car in the parking lot Q cause they closed T and listened to the Texas game. Then we watched people getting out of their cars and their umbrellas blowing inside out and decided to drive back home. Just as well, Saturday was a bust.

However, Sunday they had one qualifying session in the morning in the chilly rain and then the Mobil 1 Porsche Cup race which was fun. By noon it quit raining and the rest of the day was dry and windy making for a good race and a good time. It was my first F1 event and I will definitely go back next year. My wife loved it.
