991 Turbo pricing

Have the opportunity to pull the trigger on a 14 991. Car has just about 3800 miles. Car is White /Black not super optioned had 160K MSRP. Any opinions on what car may be worth? Not a ton of inventory out there so just wanted to get some ideas. Thanks in advance. AJ

My guess is 126-132 based on autotrader comparisons.

The cars at 126 range have more
Miles, some as much at 25k. I haven't seen the build Sheet but I'd guess this car goes at 129/130k due to the low miles.

There are a couple of dozen on the market at the similar price and some are CPO cars. Keep looking.

Did you see the white CPO car in Tampa ? Or is the interior not for you?

Tommyboy I did see the white one in Tampa and even talked to one of the sales managers over there, but not sure how I feel about the brown interior. It is definitely nice but not sure its quite my taste.

Car I am looking at has 3 year left on maintenance contract and also has some type of wheel warranty from what I understand. I figure 130k is probably a fair deal but we will see.

I get it, I prefer the interior in black myself. With under 4K I think 130 grand would be a very fair deal if the seller goes for it.

I guess this is super low mileage. Is that about market? Seems crazy to me that a $160k car that is 2 years old will sell for $130k, which is less than 20% off original retail. Assuming you got a reasonable deal of 10% off retail, the used price is crazy. Assumes that $130k is not wholesale of course; from the Mannheim numbers you posted, the retail/wholesale spread looks to be about $11k. Even to wholesale, that's only 25% less after 2 years. Seems really very high used car pricing.

Also seems like better values in more optioned cars. Saw $190k cars priced in the 140s.

First its a case of "find another car" right. There are not any other sub 4k mile TT cars for sale in white on black. You are also right that a TTS is a better buy relatively speaking. The options of the car always depreciate faster. Look at the residuals of a base C2 vs a C4S when leasing.

The 10% is a strong discount when the TT or TTS first came out in early 14. It was not until that holiday season the lots started to become plentiful with them and discounts became even greater. I got near 11% off mine by the end of August. It is not uncommon to see even 15-18% on decked out TTS as leftovers. The deviated stitching and leather vents do not hold their value

As the 991.2 hits the market and the r8, 570s etc come out it will drive the TT/TTS prices even further down which will make a great value for the secondary market.

To get back to this car in the current market the 130 mark is a fair price. Its essentially a brand new car.

My TT (not S) had an MSRP of 189K with 4K miles. I purchased it CPO in August, 5 months ago, for 140K.... drove that bad boy 900 miles home overnight!! To me, that was a great deal back in August.

That is at least a pretty good deal. Very low mileage. A 2 year old car at 25% of is fair, 30% probably what one would consider "normal". Of course you can't buy a991 turbo at a" normal " price as the market is clearly higher. At 3 years old, one should really expect 40% back of original sticker.

So based on the formula we will see sub 100K 991 TT here soon? I would be very surprised based upon current values unless some very high mileage ones hit the market here pretty soon.

I am sure within 12-18 months you will see a 991TT for 100k. It wouldn't be the one to buy though. It will be high miles, salvage, or cosmetically challenged. There was just one at the auction for 119k in Florida that was black on black with under 10k miles that needed both bumpers painted and had some scratches. I am sure a dealer with respray the bumpers give it a buff and some chap will be talking about the deal he got on it in the forums in no time. Once the 991.2 comes out prices will of course drop but I'd would also expect deprecation to level out as well.

Thought I'd come back quickly on this thread too. I would love for that to be the case. Unfortunately the math won't work that way. For a 3 year old car to be less than $100k, the retail would need to be $140k. Unfortunately, there are no tts's at that price. Actually I don't think you'll find a tt at that price either. With a $160 sticker, a 3 year old car should be around $112k. And that car wouldn't have very many options. Cabs might sell for less.

I don't expect to see good examples of the TT available for 100k for another 24 months. Hope I'm wrong though because that's when I can afford one.

However maybe with all the new super ish cars coming out. The NSX, Ford GT, new GTR, Viper ACR, among others it will push values down.

I looked at the Porsche pre-owned locator yesterday, TT's can be had for high 120's....options and miles may not be exactly what you want.
