MY turbo went 144.23MPH in 1/4 mile last night

Congrats Mark! You are definitely at a slippery slope tho my friend. Too much traction and you will snap your little toothpick axles. Which is much better than snapping your PDK but just plan on getting a tow when you get your DR's. I drove around with DRs for a couple weeks on the street did a bunch of launch control starts and everything was fine. But once I got to the drag strip and lined up in some hot rubber my driver side axle had no chance. I'm not the only one...I think ekanoo/emre snapped 3 axles before they hit 9's pulling a nice wheel stand in the process. Anyway good luck.

That is why I never used TC with my TT Gallardo. When she became too much to handle for regular street duties, I used to simply foot brake up to the best RPM given the available traction and racing surface. And yes, I snapped a few axles back in the day with that car.
However, I never snapped an axle with my 997.2, but it sure became too violent for LC...so I also foot brake it and it was fine.
All this is part of the reason why I am taking another approach with my 991; this car [platform] seems a little more forgiving/less brute vs. the 997 and even my old E-Gear Gallardo in terms of LC. Cutting 1.49's 60's doesn't even feel that brute; I think I can cut 1.48's with it...ON PIRELLIS!
Nevertheless, this entire thread is about Mark and his current great results; greater things for him is right around the corner. Stay safe brotha and enjoy the ride.
Thanks,
E-Gear

Thanks for stating this.
Our results have been questioned so much as we had gone 9,5s and 146mph with VTG turbos almost a year ago, im glad to see some people still remember that and gives back the credit
Congratulations to Mark and to people who are involved, enjoy it in good health.

I understand all this...and yes, I am an old school drag racer...street and track. I had a high horsepower car in the past; my gone and almost forgotten TT Gallardo. It was a Bear from a roll, but a cub from very low mph and standing races vs. cars equipped with decent power, traction and driver.
And because of this, I understand the importance of traction over power. Often under many street battles, traction (WITH A GOOD DRIVER) with some decent power win races.
Sure, having the power to run all out during those Mad Max (3 honk) races is great, but remember, it also depends at what MPH the race begins. Believe me, it matters!
BTW, given the example above, I'll take a 9.50 car over a 10.30 car ALL DAY LONG...why? Because a 9.50 car would run a lot faster than 135mph; believe me brothas...I KNOW. No bragging, just sharing.
All that being said, Mark's dyno results are great, his 1/4 mile attempt(s) with crappy street tires shows potential.
Nowadays with this 991, I am more of the mindset of doing the most I can with less...95% of my racing is done from standing (track & street) the other 5% from roll but usually from low MPH and not from high MPH to 180mph and beyond like many super high power cars like to run.
To each their own. Build your car ( street or race) for the intended usage, and work with a tuner who is willing to listen and work with you. Mark clearly found his goals and a great tuner...I think Sam at ByDesign can help you run high or low, just tell him what you want.
Thanks,

I think it's awesome that Mark is hitting 144 plus with not so desirable conditions and crappy tires! I look forward to running an event out west and meeting everyone!

Adam so far Ive have no issues with the PDK weve got a lot of torque dialed out of it. Drags radials will go on as soon as they show up, and we will see what shell do in the middle of summer.

Hands down Sam and MB
You stretched this envelope to places that previously were unheard of in the U.S
Congrats on providing real world performance proof on this platfom.
keep up, it will only get better.
