help choosing wheels for 2017 TT
#16
I went with 5 lug classic rims on 2017 TTS for the same reasons as others in this thread plus I'm looking at carbon fiber rims down the road. Those appear to be easier to find in the 5 bolt pattern.

@beepbeep - Could you share your carbon fibre wheel research with us? I'm speccing a 17TTS right now and thought most 5 lug wheels can be made into a CF wheel. Carbon Revolution seems to be the only one making a full CF wheels. Should be amazing at the track!

2k/wheel seems way cheap for a carbon wheel. Carbon Revolution is 15-20k/set.

Has anyone actually seen a product from that company? All the images are renders and the company address is a Marriott Hotel in Miami? No IG/FB? Their last and only post was a prototype center cap back in 2015 (https://plus.google.com/+Esecarbon).

I would want to see evidence of good quality control and, if the wheels were for street use, to know the design considered shock loads like potholes.
CFRP is not great in impact. In aircraft, dropping a heavy tool on a composite wing skin can cause condemnation of the part (scrap and replace it). That said, they're very light if designed well, and they are excellent at handling fatigue loads.
Will Ford sell the wheels they make for the GT350?

Ah nice! Then the Ford R&D and process development probably comes free. Great for buyers then!
