Turbo Owners feedback

Hey everyone,

I wanted to ask some advice form Turbo owners as I’m in a bit of a dilemma. Sorry for a bummer first post but I picked up a 2015 Turbo S in late May and started getting the mods done, Xpel installed, clear markers, etc. On June 30th, a lady rear ended me at a dead stop in traffic because she was texting. My car went to the shop and I found out there was body panel damage. Needless to say, I will finally be able to pick the car up on Friday, two and a half months later and a $40k repair bill.

Her insurance only has $10k of coverage. My insurance is taking care of the bill and the car will be 100% but now there is Diminished Value and Loss of Use.

My question is would you let it go and suck it up to a new car being unavailable for the summer, be worth less because of an accident on record or would you sue her and hold her responsible for the accident?

I’m not even sure she has money…

Any feedback or recommendations would be really appreciated. I don’t want to be that guy that trashes someone’s life but it just doesn’t seem fair that she walks away without a care and I eat the loss.

Thanks!

That's pretty much my biggest fear with these cars.

People doing stupid stuff with cheap insurance and you get screwed.

How is it even legal to drive with 10k in coverage these days?

She obviously has no money so suing her is just going to waste your time and money.

Thanks Shifter and that is my original thought... It's just crazy to me that she will walk and because her coverage is only $10k, her rates probably won't even be affected.

On a positive note, I met up with Sam from By Design and we started talking about the various stages... I was able to listen to another customers car and boy does exhaust do these a world of justice.

Law suits for anything under 50K are a waste of time. She obviously does not have the money anyways. Don't own an expensive car if you don't want to deal with the repairs.

Personally I would not sue. You are not hurt and your car is fixed. Then again I go the opposite spectrum as others and feel all these what I consider frivolous lawsuits is what destroying our country. You can't fart in public without it potentially affecting someone and a potential lawsuit.

It does suck about the car. At the end of the day if you are trading it in for another Porsche it will not affect your value much. Private party a different story.

Thanks for posting that link. That is exactly what happened to me. The lady hit me pretty hard although it doesn't look like it.

I had an accident a few years ago driving a truck and pulling a trailer.
Women at stop sign pulled out in front of me, I did everything to avoid her but no luck.
Had several witnesses...etc. Long story short , they issues her a ticket and in court she said
she saw me , but I speeded up to hit her. Crackpot.

I had 43,000 in damage and her limit was 35K. Her company said if I didn't accept the 35
they would not pay anything and they would have to defend her. I could sue for the additional and hope she had a house or something to attach.

I took the 35.

Some states recognize the "Diminished value" concept and you can make a claim against your own insurance company via the uninsured liability component when the at fault driver has no insurance or is underinsured. I looked up the rules in California and effectuated such a claim after obtaining a third party appraisal. The insurance company will claim that they don't recognize diminished value claims until you recite your state law and you will get their attention. I did this a couple years ago after some moron crashed into my parked X5.

Pretty sure it was my car you heard, and yes, yes, YES does it make a difference. The car is completely insane now...I probably killed most of Sam's cell phone data with just text messages of how sick the car is.

Seems to me if your car is 100% repaired and you're satisfied there, then hell, mod that *****!

In that case it does seem like the better deal to take the money. Thank you for the feedback.

That is great information and I will be researching that for sure. Thanks longboarder!

If that was your car it did indeed sounded amazing! Much more of a throatiness at idle and the pops with a rev. I love that you kept the stock tips... makes it more of a sleeper, if you can even call it that.

Thanks, yeah I love it. And I also like the "sleeper" look...I have this Z06 that is just so aggressive looking that it attracts all kinds and kind of drives me nuts. This car is much lower key and all the mods but still looking stock go nicely with that for my wants. I can't wait for a stage 4 setup with basically a bone stock looking car. I may put HRE's on it but they aren't too flashy.
