Are you in the same boat as me ...
... and if so why ?
Let me elaborate. I never visited the 964 forum (the successor to the 3.2), never visited the forum for the model that preceded the 997. Yet I frequently visit the 991 eventhough I have no plans of getting into one. I can't explain why ? Is it because of
1) Curiosity (then why not for a Boxster spyder or a Cayman R or a Panamera etc)
2) Positive reinforcement that I have the right car for my needs/taste (my 997.2).
I've owned several cars and rarely if at all visit the successors section. But it is just different. Probably anything new is exciting when it comes to a 911. Are you in the same boat as me and if so why ? I would love to hear your reasons.

look at the the viewers.
the forum is only 2 weeks up now and it has constantly around ~20 viewers, more than the Panamera forum which is 2 years old.
911 = Porsche Identity, nothing can compare within the Porsche range (emotionally).
Especially with an all new model, a new milestone.

I'm in the same boat.
I have no intention to buy a 991 (unless they make a PDK GT3 cab ), but I want to be updated with the 991 information so I can recommend my patients to buy some and then let me drive them.

***Ok I am just guessing here.. in good fun
w00t.. you and everyone else that loves Porsche will eventually buy one. This is the most iconic expression of of daily sports car driving left - the 911. Look at all the time and effort you put into building and reviewing the Cayenne - I can only image what your 911 would be like. Did you already go and build one? I did, twice!
Yes the 997.2 does it for me too but eventually I would love to upgrade to a 991 and finally order every dang option I want! The new technology platform of Porsche (Pana, Cayen etc.) is just incredible and so sophisticated. The simple fact of having keyless entry would be monumental for a "Man Bag" carrying guy like me.
I am so tempted to transfer my lease just get into one. There are so many creature comforts I love about the Cayenne that my 911 just lacks and while nostalgia makes me appreciate the classics of the 997.2 I can't wait for a 991 Targa!

Well, My heart tells me the GTS is that car for me. And with that thought in mind, it's all the added technology and sophistication that concerns be about the longevity of the vehicle.
Or maybe I'm just delusional...

Good points about the technology concerns. The GTS is special and I don't blame you for sticking to the thought of keeping it forever. I have been very lucky with my cars and really never had many issues (knocking on wood). Yes lots of new tech in the 991 but being a gadget guy like me I am loving it.

This thread is just flat out hysterical. Just come out of the closet and admit that you guys want a 991. It is already painfully obvious to everyone else that you guys like 991s, and the only person you are lying to is yourself. There's no shame in liking the newest and greatest thing from Porsche. Stop living in denial and just admit it.

I like learning about the new car . I haven't sold either of mine but am keeping an open mind . I can always keep my cars . I can always buy a 991 in the future if the car is that incredible.
I learned a lesson a long time ago with my 996 . I insisted to myself that my 2002 996 was good enough and that the 997 can't be so much better to make the loss of trade in plus the cost to buy worth it. On the first day of the 997 launch I only went to the dealership to look at the car . After all .. they told me on the phone that they had the cars but were sold out . Then I saw the 997S and that led to two days of phone calls until i found mine . Now this doesn't always happen where i buy a car. I didn't buy a 997.2 Turbo S . I didn't buy a Gt3 (almost did). In short .. I think about the decision but I have to know about the car as part of that process .
even if .. in the end .. you decide NOT to buy it.
Make sense ?
That's why I'm guessing you are here .

believe it or not, i went to 991 thread because i want to find all of the negative comments that ppl made about the 991 to make me hate the 991 and think that i didn't make the wrong decision that i bought 997.2 because right now i'm liking the 991 a lot!
