Base or S???

I didn't say corvette. Nor was I thinking about that marque either. It seems like you have already made your decision on what you are going to do before you even asked for our advice. I don't exactly know you very well, so I am not familiar with your perspectives or take on things. But again, I will reiterate this one more time. Please don't get s envy when you see a 25 year old driving a 991s. It happens in LA. Good luck with everything.
Oh, and I just read catchmyshadow's post, and it was !!!! +1 Rep point for you sir!!!

i am not envious at all. I would prolly "thumbs up" a fellow P-car driver...i'm just laid back. but if i saw a 25 yrd old in a GT3 RS 4.0...then that would really ruin my day...LOL

When I see young guys/gals driving a fancy car. I always tell myself that I can appreciate mine a lot more than they can. I am just guessing here, to some, it is just the brand they are after, not the car. ; }

Price is not a concern for me so I could buy a turbo, GT3 or S, however, I choose to buy base Carreras very lightly optioned with only power seats and XM. I think they represent the best value and the depreciation is very modest compared to the other models. I paid $76k for a base 2009 brand new and could sell it for $67k today, 3 years later. Check how much a GT3, S or turbo depreciates in 3 years. I bet much more than 9k. I have a 991 base car on order and happily so. White/Yachting blue, sport plus seats, XM and sport design steering wheel. About $85k and the dealer is giving me 3k off so figure $82k for a brand new 991. can't beat it.

Bigger brakes w/6 piston calipers vs. 4 up front.
PASM
Wider tires fore and aft
50 more HP
38 more lb/ft of torque (are you kidding me. An S will crush the base from any in-gear run)
Quad exhaust if one cares
Ability to get SPASM cheaper because PASM is standard (the only way I'd order a Carrera S that is)
All this nonsense about the .03 seconds delta to 60, is just nonsense. First of all .03 is a LOT to 60, but 0-60 times are BS. The real test is 0-100, 5-100, 120 and the good old 1/4 mile. A C2S will walk away from the base model in any of these tests. Numbers do not tell the story.
Like someone else said, the engine alone makes the price of admission worth it.
