Base or S???
#31
Price is not a concern for me so I could buy a turbo, GT3 or S, however, I choose to buy base Carreras very lightly optioned with only power seats and XM. I think they represent the best value and the depreciation is very modest compared to the other models. I paid $76k for a base 2009 brand new and could sell it for $67k today, 3 years later. Check how much a GT3, S or turbo depreciates in 3 years. I bet much more than 9k. I have a 991 base car on order and happily so. White/Yachting blue, sport plus seats, XM and sport design steering wheel. About $85k and the dealer is giving me 3k off so figure $82k for a brand new 991. can't beat it.

I paid $76k off an original MSRP of $81k. My current 09' has black interior, not blue. My 991 on order ( subject to change since it is a January build) will have the blue interior which I actually like quite a bit. I have driven both an S and a base car and while the S is a bit quicker.. it is just that... a bit and certainly not $14k worth in my opinion. Many will disagree and dare I say the S will outsell the base car and be much more common, which is yet another reason I choose the less common base car. While I was promised $3k off I will not be turning in my trade until Feb and of course the stealership I am sure has every intention of making back their $3k on this end. They did however offer me a free loaner Cayman for 30 days from Feb to March delivery which I thought was cool. They will even equip my new 991 with the Fuchs wheels for an additional cost and allow a trade value for the standard rims. Unfortunately the dealer 3 blocks from my house will not budge off MSRP and consequently they forced me to look elsewhere. I will never pay MSRP on principal alone.

Anyway, I would actually add xenon lights to what your option list. I think that is a must have.
