I answered your question in this thread.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...locations.html

Here is the answer I posted:

What are you talking about? There are HUGE differences between the s and the base model...starting with 50hp. And dealers option out base models very differently from s models, so the differences become more jarring when they hit the dealer lots.

Big difference in the 997.1, option out all the standard options in the 'S' model and there isn't much difference. I would assume it's the same for the 991.

agree, but i'm thinking of keeping it simple this time around...i dont want all the bells and whistles this time. had them in the past and never really cared for it. S or Base, all I want is: 20" wheels, 7-speed manual, sport seats, & either color Black or Aqua blue. no doo dads, no sunroof, no S-Chrono, no buttons on the steering wheel, etc...call me crazy

I configured both with the options and found a 16k difference - not sure what I did wrong. But I feel that the base would be ample!

i think the Base Carrera would be enough for most in the real world,
but the thing (and the good thing for Porsche) is that the term "enough horsepower" is an oxymoron to most car fanatics.

Honestly the Targa4S i have is 4.9sec to 100 and the new Base is 4.8 - more then enough without losing my license. I only use Sport for a faster engine blipping and louder exhaust. I don't want any more nanies.. I have them in the Cayenne and I don't see any need for them in the real world. The stiffer suspension is just too tough for Toronto streets.

The new 911 Carrera $93,700
BOSE® Audio Package $2,770
Premium Package Plus with Adaptive Sport Seats Plus $6,620
Dark Blue Metallic $820
Interior Colour Luxor Beige leather interior $4,210
Electric sunroof $1,710
ParkAssist (front and rear) $1,130
Window trim in high gloss Aluminum $460
Sport Exhaust System $3,370
20-inch Carrera S wheel $1,790
Wheel center caps with colored Porsche Crest $220
Wheel spacers, 5 mm $560
Seat belts in Yachting Blue $620
Steering wheel heating $310
Adaptive Sport Seats Plus (18-way) $0
Center console trim in brushed Aluminum $350
Brushed Aluminum Interior Package (for leather interior) $1,140
PDI $1,085

Total Price*

$120,865

The 50 hp is worth the 15k price for me. Everything else is just gravy. I think PTV is also included on the S, which only makes the deal sweeter.

If the s is too pricey, then by all means buy the base. IMHO, I do think that the 50hp bump will make a noticeable difference. But please don't get s envy when you see a 25 year old driving an s, which can happen since we are located in the LA area.

Good luck with your purchase. One last thing....I will offer this advice. If you are looking for a bargain, then I would suggest that you should shop around for other marques too. It doesn't hurt to expand your search. Porsche charges a lot for little options that are standard on other cars. So you will more likely get a better bang for your buck if you look around. Let us know what you think, and good luck sir.

agreed, 50HP is noticeably more and these 50HP are original Porsche HP,
so you have to pay for them. it´s worth the extra Ks but only if u really use them!
