Pirelli P-Zero's for 991
Per an email I received from PCA, Porsche will use the Pirelli P-Zero as OE on the new 991. Looks like the Michelin Super Sport is out of luck. I wonder how much they had to pay for this marketing triumph.......

The Goodyear F1 Asymetric will be the OE 19" size, the Pirelli the 20". The Super Sport isn't out of the running, it just isn't "done" yet and still in development. To get an N rating the tire has to be not only up to Porsche standards, but theirs as well. The tire is THIS close, but they won't release it for N rated combos until they are 100% confident it is perfect. This will be the first launch of a new Porsche in over 30 years that a Michelin has not been OE on, but they would rather break this chain than release a tire that they don't feel is the very best they could make it. They did get the N rating on Pilot Alpin sizing and are very happy they will be out in time for the car's winter release.

Why the hold up Damon? Must be something fundamentally wrong, to break the "chain". The tire has been in development for a LONG time and the 991 has been finished for over a year. I find this VERY VERY odd!
