Porsche will build a stick-shift 911 as long as the customer asks for it

After all -- whose going to spend alll that money on an expensive option when it's not good enough for the Gt3 ?
Or is it just too cost ineffective to warranty under track driving conditions ?
Or are they going to build it two years from now and cream resale on the manual gt3 991?
Or are we going to get the real answer ?
In fact what dos this mean for PDK .. even now ?
PS. I just felt the resale value on my current PDK car take a jolt of sorts .
looking ahead --I wonder if the Gt2 will have it .

Don't forget who's in charge of things now... VOLKSWAGEN.
And that's no good. In the future we will see platform sharing in the VW empire (taking things from Porsche), like the Panamera will be shared with VW according to what I read. Also rushed production of new models (something Porsche by itself would never do, and sacrifice an under-engineered product).
Porsche = make beautiful sports cars.
VW = make $$$ by volume, and then more $$$ by saving up on things and replacing what was once metal with plastic (like in our American cars).
Just to give an idea:

VW bosses say they want to DOUBLE Porsche sales annually (from 75,000 to 150,000 cars). There are no many ways to do that without destroying things along the way in a company like Porsche.

Great question ... Porsche ought to answer it !!!

At some point they will have no choice to either deliver or answer those questions.

cool! so rumors about a comeback of the old school Targa look are hopefully true.

70 pounds in a performance car is huge! I did not know the PDK system weighed that much more. It surprises me that giving up that much weight could actually equate to a faster lap time with PDK?! It's hard to believe.

Porsche has just got to bring the Panamera in MT.. I need a 4 door sedan next year and while I love the new M5 something is just not jiving for my heart yet - no idea why. I think its just too bland and does not stir me the way the Panamera does!
I will post the EVO review of the Panamera S - incredible!

Sorry man, but I seriously doubt Porsche will bring a manual Panamera to North America. Their statistics department has the final word. It won't be profitable due to a small margin in the market that actually wants a manual Panamera.

Bring a 6MT Turbo S, along with that 6MT Panamera...
Didn't think so. Do some here have short memory issues? Porsche has already not offered a 6MT as an option. But it's good to see marketing still blinds the masses.
It's like Chevy saying - we'll build cars with push rod motors and leaf springs as long as people keep asking for it... The brand loyal followers will praise them, and the competition will laugh hysterically.

The manual saves weight agreed, but the combination with PDK is def. the fastest round a track.
I mean the 991 carrera S, that posted the new 7:40 Carrera Ring record, was equipped with PDK.
Releasing the next GT3 without a manual would be blasphemy, but a 991GT3 without a PDK option would be a huge mistake imo.
Maybe Porsche is too worried that a standard GT3 with PDK could be too close to a PDK Turbo, while being significantly cheaper!

Agreed, PDK is fastest around any track, but 4 seconds alone of that 7:40 came from PDCC according to Porsche. Maybe another 4 from the better chassis (certainly not an unreasonable estimation) and another 1 maybe 2 from DEM. If I were to guess PDK might gain 3 - 4 seconds at the Ring, just a guess.

I don't believe Porsche thinks so either. It just comes down to weight and chassis dynamics, according to Porsche's Mr P, iircc.
