I would love to see Porsche design a cab top that does not show so prominently the fold marks in the fabric after a couple of miles. As you can see on the pics here, this new 991 already has creases / marks. The top looks like it has been on the car for 10 years.
I will say it does looks much crisper than previous soft tops. I believe this is due to the new "hard top" skeleton.
Other makes have done it. If you look at the MB clk's and Audi cabs, their tops for the most part, do not show "fold" marks...even on cars with 50k. The fabric they use also seems to be more "plush" than Porsche's. Most Porsche cabs will show this wear after only a couple of years. I have seen many low mileage 997.2 with beautiful paint and interiors only to look weathered by their prematurely aging tops.

Is that "announced" next year or "delivered" ?
Who wants a Cab delivered in winter 2012 !
I guess we will know more after the dealers get to drive them in December.

Get a look at the front marker lights. I'm pretty sure they are fakes/decals.
My question is look at the lines they follow. I honestly believe whomever installed them, installed them upside down and on the wrong side.
Anyone agree?

Great detective work there Yes, they're obviously decals, along with the headlights and taillights as well. Obviously this is a test mule that's in finished trim and they're keeping it slightly masked. They do this so they can make a big splash at the autoshows when they get to finally "reveal" the incoming model.

I was at the dealer last night looking over the remains of their 997.2 inventory and struck up a conversation with the sales guy. He wasn't pushy and recommended I wait for the 991's. When I asked about the cabs he told me they will be released right after the coupes. Said delivery will be no later than May and maybe sooner. That makes sense to me - get the cab out in time for summer 2012 driving season. That will certainly help push up the volume.
He said to just add $10K to get a rough estimate and mentioned the best bang for the $$ might be the C2 cab.
So what would you spend your $10K on? Open air motoring (C2 cab) or more power under your right foot (C2S)???
