I didn't see it mentioned anywhere on the options list at Porscheusa.com. Any word on this? No way would I buy another car like this without one.

the LSD comes with the PTV, which is standard on the Carrera S and an option for the Carrera.

Is that for the US as well? Many times we get a different standard/option set here in the states, ie; ROTW cars were able to get a sport suspension with LSD as an option for the 997.1 cars why in the US this wasn't even an option. US cars didn't get this until 2009 with the arrival of the 997.2 cars.

I was pretty ecstatic when I found out the LSD is now standard on the S model. If a 55k m3 gets it standard, then a 96-100k car should get it standard. It was really hard to find a 997 with LSD, and salesmen even went so far as to tell me that your average carrera s owner wouldn't want LSD.

I lol'ed pretty hard when I read this. It is just adding insult to injury. Why more dealerships did not order more 911s with LSD is beyond me. It was a ~$950 option that improves the performance around corners.

I felt embarrassed when I bought my new at the time 07 997S and found out it didn't have a limited slip diffy. I figured how on earth can a $95k car not have one when everyone of my M cars and previous Mustangs had them.

I also remember reading on the 997 forums that people were vehemently denying the need of LSD on 911s! I'm sure they will all be singing a different tune now.

This is the way things are these days. They try to get the base price down so they only offer you a steering wheel, engine and 4 wheels for that price. Everything else costs extra. In the PTT you need to pay extra for a rear wiper, the LSD comes with the PDCC option only. The PTTS doesnt get ceramic brakes as standard etc.

That is pretty embarrassing. Don't get me wrong. I love the e9x m3 because it will be the first and last v8 high revving "low" displacement NA engine. But options like LSD, paddle shifters, and carbon fiber at 60k (less if you do euro delivery) really make porsche look over priced and the m3 a great bargain. I am glad porsche decided to add LSD as standard now and makes swallowing that 6 fig bill a little easier. Now, the next thing that should be standard is sport chrono and PDCC. Baby steps for porsche I guess...

I can completely tell the difference between having a LSD vs. not having one. The LSD in the E92 M3 is brilliant...it really is. When I bought my 2011 ZCP car a few corners where I know I can let the rear end slide a bit really showed the difference vs. my 997.1S U.S. car.
