$14,300 difference!
.. in the base price of a 'base' 991 Carrera, and the base price of a 991 Carrera S.
$82,100 vs $96,400.
That's a lotta brautwurst..
I seem to remember the MSRP of a base 997 Carrera being about $6,000 less than the suggested MSRP of a Carrera S.
Without me trying to fig'r it out in the config'r'r.. what are the major differences that justifies the $14+K increase?

depends on what you want to do with the car...
PASM is cool to have on any Porsche..but he rest of the option are quite debatable.
For example...IMO (and others will disagree)...the PTV system might be a negative if you track the car allot. As are the 20" tires.

Difference was 12,900.00. 91,900.00 for the S & 79,000 for the Carrera.

Ok, I wasn't sure. I suppose that makes the difference in the two 991s more palatable.

The question of whether to go with the base Carrera or Carrera S is one that I am grappling with. The difference here in Canada is just over $16,000 without options and it looks like you still have to option PASM in to the Carrera S. Carrera is $93,700, Carrera S is $110,000.
I am not planning to track the car, basically a cross between a sports car and a GT. I think I would prefer the 19" wheels over the 20" and the brakes shouldn't be too big an issue. I would like to have the 3.8L engine but again is it worth the additional $16K given that I am not going to track the car. Is that extra .3 of a second to 60mph worth it given that buying The S would be a stretch and the base more comfortable.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Just order the base, I am ordering one, only options I am getting are premium package and xm/hd radio. total incluing destination is 87,110. white with blue int. i am sure in short time apr (www.goapr.com) will release a ECU upgrade that will make it as fast or faster than a "S". may get the sport exhaust, but then again we have the "GUNDO" hack, which worked out great on my current 997.
