Are the 991 improvements attractive to you?

The 991 is much faster than a GTS depending on how you look at it. Look at the ring time for the new 911 and you will see it easily outpaces the GTS. 0-16 or 0-100 or 1/4 mile they are so close you wont be able to tell the difference. The 991 also has a higher top speed than the GTS so its faster too in that sense. It depends what you mean by "faster" when comparing the 2 models. The new 991 interior (similar to Pana) is MUCH BETTER IMO though I dont even think there is any arguing that.

The performance between the 997 C2S, GTS, 3.8 GT3, and the 991 C2/C2S will most likely be unnoticed for the average driver (even on track).
If the driver has a few years of high performance driving, then I believe all of the differences will show themselves (true for every car, I know, but I believe it will be less pronounced for these models/trims).

As an owner of a GTS, I will admit that the enhancements to the 991 are attractive, but as Jasper mentioned, most of us (including me) would never be able to utilize much less notice those improvements. I am very interested in PDCC, PTV and Dynamic Engine Mount technology...but since my car is 100% street (not brave enough to take my brand new GTS on a track), I seriously doubt I'd ever take advantage of them.
So, from my perspective, moving from a 997 to 991 would be purely to be in the newest version of a 911. And that isn't an acceptable reason to make the change. I'm not sold on the exterior looks, on the fence with the interior (I owned a Panamera S, so I know what the general feel is), so other than having an itch to have the newest 911 on the street, there isn't anything in the 991 that's attractive to me.
I might be in the minority, but that's fine. I love my 997 and don't plan on looking for a new one until we start seeing WB, GT3 and potentially GTS versions...which will be a long wait.

Everytime that I bought a new car, it is because of my butt itch. The old car that I traded in was perfectly fine.

I know exactly what you mean. The problem with that itch is it's one of those itches you just can't seem to get to...until you make the change. But then you spend way too much time wondering if that itch was really all that bad.

The 991 does not really do it for me, hate the back end, too edgy and busy, the sunroof is terrible open, not a fan of the bulbous headlights, etc.. I'll wait for the next gt3/RS. Even then I may pass as I feel I currently have one of the best driver's cars on the planet; a .2 gt3, the other being the RS. They are and will be faster cars out there but this gt3 rocks my world even going to the grocery store.

I really wanna try something "new"
its like deja vu all over again. I had the 996 GT3 RS back then when the 997 came out. I kept thinking of waiting for the GT3 version first, but end up buying a C2S after the initial test drive of the 997!
I think I'll end up the same with the 991!

I would prefer a 997 over a 991 IMO. Given the 991 may grow on me as I see them on the streets... but I am not a fan of the increased price tag... I liked how the 997S was 90k now its closer to 100k and well over with options in it..
at that price range there would be other cars I would consider pursuing even if a little more saving or laying out of monthly payments was required...

The 991 has got me thinking too.. I honestly wouldn't buy a Pana due to external bubble shape in back but the interior in the Pana is totally awesome to me and I def could see myself in the 991 GT3 I've already owned a 2007 911 GT3.

The front end I love, the rear..........ehhh, not so much. I think I like the interior more that the current crop, but still not enough to plunk down a bunch of cash for something new. Still can't imagine what it would cost to replace what I have plus all the news goodies...........$200,000+ ????? Pretty rich IMHO

Porsche is shooting to sell more 911s then ever and hence the reason for a lot of these refinements. Its always difficult to evolve a car but also cater its original core of sport enthusiasts. I do feel that whether its a weekend car or a daily driver its a worthy fit for both roles depending on how you spec it. I would wait a bit to see what Porsche does with the model lineup - I have a feeling there will be some surprises in store for us.

I would say that I've warmed up to the 991 without losing any love whatsoever for the 997.2.
I do like:
1. some of the new features & design cues-
2. I'm especially interested in its refined & (perhaps maximized for a n/a 911), increased performance.
3. I like the flatter. slightly meaner front bodywork & hoodline.
4. Overall I think its aesthetics have grown on me to a degree.
5. improved interior build/component quality is ALWAYS a plus.
6. the elegant new console design
Dislikes:
1. Buried engine
2. more intrusive (into the interior) console height rearward
3. still not jazzed about the high rear end and the slits for taillights.
4. I also dislike the increased size of the car.
5. The new sunroof (and yes I like a sunroof).
6. rear decklid area has lost some classic 911 grace, imo.
7. a rather aggressive price increase over last year's model (just sayin'; though at this tier and up it doesn't really matter anymore)
Okay so the question then is, would I buy one?
Absolutely & I plan on it. But I'd also want the 997.2 and other variants to drive. Shoot, I want a Singer 911 in my garage, too.
