On sum balance who is ready to buy now?
Maybe someone more chatroom savvy than I can start one of those edgy 'bar graph' poles . Most of the official reviews are now in and discussed here. I hear a lot of people saying 'I'll wait to drive it'. Lets face it though. How hard can you really test drive a dealer demo around the streets to explore its limits? Most people like me I suspect depend to a large degree on write up/reviews which arguably have been mostly positive. Most of the reviewers though probably don't currently own/drive themselves a late model 911. My current car is an 05 C2S. As for me, I think I will wait for now...great car no doubt, but the thought of 'upgrading' for things like fuel saving/auto start stop, power steering and electronic gadgetry seem less important in the P driving experience. I like the thought of the 90K in my pocket that it would cost me to change.

No doubt 991 will be faster, performs better and has a more luxurious interior than most previous 911s. It will make a lot of sense for buyers who currently don't own any late models 911s or if lease is expiring. But for us 997 owners, I agree that I would rather keep my money as I cannot outrun both my 997s' reserve on the street or track.

I have a 997.2 and have put in an order for CS for April delivery date... The electric steering is scarry but the light effort may not be bad.... Ferrari Californa has a light steering which I liked a lot...

I personally have always been reluctant to buy a car without driving it first. It's all about the (subjective) experience, especially with performance cars, and I think one can get a good sense of that even drving at sane speeds. But I certainly use reviews, forums like this, etc. to get a sense of what might be promising.

Does anyone know when the official release date would be for US dealers? Is it the rumored Feb 2012?

well man vs. machine the battle has been going on for a very long time. For me I can tell a car is special within couple hundred feet. I don't need to take it to 185mph to determine that. I have a 997 c2s before and it was special. I sold it due to ADHD car disorder. However, since selling it I realized that it was the car that i loved the most. So in a lot of ways this is my cure. I was planning leaning towards the 2012 Bentley Continental GT but after seeing the 2013 991, I have come back home. I got a few things cooking but I plan to get a 991 very soon.
I think your situation is a bit different. You already have a 911 and upgrading it for 90k might not give you the ROI you are expecting for 90k. But for those who doesn't have one would rather pony up $$ and get a 991 over 996 or 997. That's what I think.
Who do you think hoss?

Congrats...all the best and we will all be interested to hear your impressions.

Personally, I wouldn't necessarily avoid the whole first year, but I'd want to at least drive it myself before buying. The warranty helps alleviate the concern about bugs.

It is all very well having a warranty, but do you really want to spend all that money to have the vehicle off the road being repaired. I buy a car to drive , not to sit in the workshop and have a loaner.
