Order Confirmation mail
I got order confirmation email from dealer today on my 991s order placed sept 28. Very vague, just says order has been placed and Dec production assigned and vehicle should be in port week 6 Feb 5-11. If that changes we will inform you.

Wait has been more painful than I anticipated it would be at time of ordering, mainly coz of browsing porsche forums like this one which make you over think about your purchase but are informational. BTW, these forums also resulted in my adding certain options that I otherwise would not have, particularly PSE & TPMS which is an option in my area. On my own volition I had earlier added sport chrono, sport design steering and colored wheel caps to my initial order.
I have never thought so much about any car purchase coz all previous ones were off the lot with fixed options. Never before have I browsed car forums either. The personalized order did cause some dilemmas.

Not even that much of an update from my dealer, and my order was placed 3rd week in Sept. He has been, so far, pretty skeptical about any accurate estimates for the order, stating that Porsche pushes timelines back frequently, and he does not want to make any false promises. It is the first time I have ordered a car, so what do I know...

Yeah, I have heard some forum users say they finally got their lives back after their order process concluded in vehicle delivery.
Humphrey I think they shud at least promise you a delivery month as I was from the beginning i.e. Feb with a promise that it could be sooner but not later. If they are being totally vague they may be hiding something.

I suppose nobody ever complains when their car comes in earlier than promised...

Googling, I found this list of Porsche order statuses:
ACKNWL Order acknowledged by PCNA
ACPORD Order accepted by PCNA
MFGCNF Assigned a Production Number
PLPROD Vehicle is Planned for Production
PROD Vehicle in Production
CMPPRD Vehicle Completed Production
PRDLST Factory Last Checkpoint
IMPINV Vehicle Complete and Invoiced
ONVESL On Vessel
IMPPRT Vehicle at U.S. Port
PDI Vehicle at Charleston PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection)
PDIFIN Vehicle Finished PDI
INVSHP Invoiced and Shipped to Dealer
DLRARR Arrived at Dealership
My order immediately went to "ACPORD" which, from what I understand, is where it stays for potentially months. When it gets to MFGCNF PLPROD and PROD, things start to get interesting. I presume I will be updated when this occurs.

Didn't mean to worry u. By "hiding" I just mean't perhaps they knew delivery wud be later than what they wanted to let u know. But doesn't seem so. Since you ordered in Sept, I suspect you will receive delivery in Feb. Still a frustrating wait. So in the meantime find yourself another hobby to keep busy
