Is it me, or???

In using the Porsche online configurator, I'm noticing many omissions of options offered for the new 991.... both for the coupe' and the cabriolet- to name a few, such as:
1. painted seat back exterior color option
2. choice of colors for gauges (the only choice I see right now is an all-black gauge option, and 5-color sport chrono option... but not the regular 5 color choices for all the gauges)
3. contrast stitching in the interior
4. no removable hardtop option for the cabriolet.

Also noticed that the two-tone with white (and expresso or?) interior as shown in the guards-red press cabriolet video is not an option. Now the configurator does show something that will not be available until February 2012 and it states that very clearly; but aside from that, there seems to be a whole lot missing right now.

Is this because the 991 is so new and these options aren't available at all yet, or something that is available through the dealership's ordering process? For you guys who have ordered a 991 what do you know about this? Thanks in advance!

They are not offering many options on the initial orders which will indeed be available later on. Also it depends on your international geograhic area, as configurators in some countries have many of the options that are currently not on the US configurator.

Hippocampus is infamous around these parts
I ordered an S for a Jan build/Feb delivery. The custom options are on the dealer configurators. On theirs, there is an extra tab on the top of the right side of the box where you select options on the online configurator. For example, I ordered deviating stitching on my car. I thought I simply missed this tab online, but when I went back home and checked, sure enough it is not available online.

Wonderful news, people. Thank you for the insight! I figured that was the case, but I didn't want to assume. Deviated stitching is just one of a few things that, if I'm going to order a car, I don't want to compromise. Both my wife and I are doing builds. She gets a S Cabriolet, and myself- the C2S coupe.

I'm still a bit chagrined with the 991's rear end- not that it's ugly per se', but IMHO it's too tall and the classic 911 sloped deck has been compromised somewhat; but overall I think the car is incredible for what they have to work with regarding CAFE, Euro Pedestrian standards, etc. No, it's not the small 911 of the 60's-90's either... but as the reviews are pretty much consistently saying, it's probably the most refined 911 ever, perhaps next to perfect.

Thanks, friends... and congratulations on your orders!

The two-tone with white (and expresso or?) interior as shown in the guards-red press cabriolet which you mentioned above is the two-tone Agate Grey/Pebble Grey leather inrerior.

Thanks and I'm aware of that option & have seen it; but there is one guards-red cabriolet press car out there that has brown & white (or off-white). Brown or expresso around the door sills & dash top and white or parchment insets I have seen that online in press shots. The door sills/tops were clearly dark brown. I'll see if I can find the link and post it here.

Hi 1BlinkGone,

I think you are talking about this one, right?

This is the Agate Grey/Pebble Grey 2 tone interior. The pebble grey looks pretty white. If you want, I can show you more Agate Grey/Pebble Grey photo.

That is the interior. FWIW, Not at all to be argumentative, but that's not even close to the Agate Grey/Pebble Grey that is in the Porsche Website. See here and click the "agate grey/pebble grey" choice and see what I mean:
http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/91...=423&contrast=

The factory's rendition is not even close and looks completely greyscale and quite darker overall, while your press picture (the one I was going to find, thank you!) appears to be either a chocolate or expresso with a parchment or other off-white contrast. My guess is what we see in the press picture is either a two-tone combo not yet listed; or it's a custom color option. Thanks for your help, pratas!

I never trust the color from the online configurator.

Sometime light reflection can change the color you see.
You can also check below video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvInATRIDOI
That is the agate/pebble interior. Sometime looks darker(1:09) and sometime you cann see the brown shade and just similar to the cab press photo(1:17).

Actually, the interior colours always look lighter in the photos.
There are other agate/pebble grey

This is the black/platinum grey and also not even close to the black/platinum grey that is in the Porsche Website.

Yeah, I know about the inaccuracy of the Porsche configurator website colors- the paint colors leave much to be desired as far as accuracy!! They look so "plastic" and incorrect.... I've found the colors look way better in real life than the config colors. Lol... wish they would fix that. Ironically their real photographs on their site are quite representative of the true paint/interior colors. I don't understand the disconnect between the sections.

Back to the interior colors in question: the degree of darkness at their website and the absence of brown hue is something else. So you are sure that is indeed agate grey/pebble grey? I certainly see much more brown hue in both colors shown there- it's very evident, especially those in the direct sunlight. Very cool. Whatever that color is in that photograph, I like it for certain exterior colors, though I'm not sure I'd order it for myself.

That is indeed agate grey/pebble grey according to my dealer. I just discussed with my local dealer last Saturday since my dealer suggested me agate/pebble grey(or black/platinum for darker tone) fit better than espresso for my order (Agate grey exterior).

By the way, you can check below, there are quite many pictures.

Enjoy!!

Thanks, Pratas for that confirmation! Agate grey appears to be a wonderful exterior color, btw.

I would prefer a red/black interior.

That is different; but I'd go with the black ragtop with that color.
All depends on the exterior color, and then I do like the monochrome, too. YMMV.

Red is good for silver, grey, white or even black; however, the carrera red is too bright for me. I am not sure if I can sit inside for a long time. I met one guy ordered Carrara White with Red in the dealer last week. He told me that he might change his mind after check the sample.
