interesting, but the fact that it`s a manual 991** and also this picture...
...doesn`t make me really trust those times.
(**cause even the biggest muppets can clock accurate times in a PDK car but one can do so much wrong when shifting a manual.)

I'm not a 0-60 junkie but I find these times interesting and possibly representative of real life driving.
PDK is terrific but not for every driver.

other tests and laptime comparos are already out, for the 991 with PDK tho.
(sportauto supertest)
Porsche 991 Carrera S, PDK, 400HP
Hockenheim: 1:10,4 min.
Ferrari 458 Italia, 570HP
Hockenheim: 1:10,5 min.

Looks much better and promising than the 0-60. I wonder if the Porsche Torque Vectoring is what makes the difference. I wonder how the (plus) compares to the standrad manual. Interesting nevertheless.

PDCC together with PTV, but also the new chassis makes a huge difference.
the new 991 is a cornering monster!
auto motor sport (AMS) - test:
result: 0-62mph (100 km/h) in 4.1 seconds for the 991 S with PDK.
(so exactly the time that Porsche claims.)
1/4 mile: 12.3 seconds @ 117mph
i think that something went wrong in the inside line test. maybe probs with the tires/the grip or something.

I hope its a little quicker than this..Car and Driver ran a 12.4 @114.8mph and a 0-60 time of 3.9 sec. in a DCT equipped M3.

the M3 got 20 more HP and the 991 is still slightly quicker on the quarter mile.
between 0-60 and 0-62 is a difference. the 991 S PDK is able to clock a 3.9, maybe even a 3.8 to 60 as well, no doubt.
BUT the main area in which the new 911 has improved is the handling, through corners. it drives circles around the M3 in that department.

The hockenheim time is very impressive and justifies the price of the 991S. Performance number is a huge leap from the 997. The 997GT3 is a great car. But very few of us are able to utilize the manual transmission to the extent that professional drivers can. Pushing the engine forward to a mored mid-engine like balance is a right move for the 991. The Lotus Evora like handling characteristic + Porsche engineering will make the 991 one of the most sought after sportscar in the next decade without the Ferrari 458 /Mclaren MP4 price tag.
