2 991's at Champion Motors 10-21-12

Here's a few pics of the new 991's "unveiling" at Champion Motors this past Saturday. Nice event, nice cars.....overall, I'm more than happy with my 997. And I wish I would have gone to the keys...LOL!!! But seriously, the 991 is high-tech, sleek, wider, longer, lower than the 997. the lines appear more aerodynamic. The headlights are "bubbled". The salesmen who had just returned from test-driving the 991 in California had nothing but EXCELLENT things to say about the car. I'm sure it drives phenomenally well, albeit more well-behaved, but I fear that the 991 is veering away from the true sports car "feel" that defines the 911, and moving more into the "luxury" sports car market, to compete with the likes of the Maserati and Aston-Martin. Then again, that is merely my opinion, and I have yet to drive the car. If someone GAVE me the car, sure, I would keep it....am I anxiously awaiting to trade my 997 in for a 991......nope.

I find the interior a little bit boring.

The interior is essentially IDENTICAL to the Panamera's.

Absolutely beautiful, thanks for sharing. Loving the matching calipers with both cars! Just goes to show you how great a company Porsche is and how amazing the 997 is that everyone is not in a super rush to upgrade

Yup...the matching calipers were a nice touch. The yellow calipers are with the ceramic brakes...I asked specifically if they offered the painted calipers as an option, they said no. Also, both cars were PDK. I liked the rims on the red car a LOT.

Probably will be very true but I think that Porsche has enough variants that will allow for providing the right sports car feeling for various folks. I believe the 997 had 21 or more variants. I guess that means the right 991 will likely be there for anyone.

Thanks for the pictures.

What is the rectangular item that fits between the buttons just behind the PDK shifter? Would be to the right of the driver's thigh?

Just curious.

Thanks.

Bear in mind, these were press cars...in other words, only there for "show", hence the decals on the doors.
They are fully operational, but not legally driveable in the states. When I asked the salesman if Champion was going to keep the cars, he said no; they would be shipped back to Germany and either converted into race cars or sold to dealerships there.
