I'm really surprised that there are no manual cars on the continent. And, no 'base cars' either.

I suppose Porsche is pushing the car that they intend to sell. The PDK S. Pricey car.

Wonder when manuals will break cover here in the US?

Also, wondering why there have not been a load of postings talking about new 991 deliveries. Why is that? Are there no cars for buyers?

Apparently all the "cars" are on their way. 1st and 2nd week of Feb. is when the big shipments and official release begins. I am really unsure of what the Porsche execs are thinking but I have a good feeling they are not stupid enough to let their cult following of MT drivers be forgotten. Unlike other manufacturers they have innovated in every aspect possible catering to all. Once thing I love about Porsche is that they don't simply do it for the "sake of it" everything is well thought out and executed. I believe the new 7MT to be state of the art and integrate some of the key advantages that we see in PDK/Auto cars.

I also wouldnt order a 102k+ car without driving it the way I would want to order it...

I would assume each dealer would get at least 1 manual in at some point...
but thats just it the demo cars at the test drive were speced at 122-132k

I built one to my liking for 101k on their website

Yes, the car I saw was over $122K, too. PDK is pretty pricey IMO.

Manual S cab I configured was just under $122K. If you start adding interior and performance bits here and there, the price soars to near 997 Turbo sticker.

yup ! I would do a S coupe. not a drop top fan although my viper was a convt.

I am not a fan of alot of electronical components i feel like it takes away from the rawness of power.

I pretty much would want a basic S coupe with the traditional manual.

only options i would like would be :

-moonroof
-nice sport seats
-HID's

not too sure if i would even get a sport exhaust since chances are i would put an aftermarket exhaust on

im young still though I need to get rid of the rest of my college loans before I drop that kind of money on a car

I read almost ALL the mags and watch web reviews and they are mostly right. I'm sure it will take more than one test-drive to decide if the 991 is for me. My dealer is doing their thing next Saturday and I expect only PDK cars. I'd much rather a manual for a 2-3 day/wk (if lucky) ride but that's BEFORE driving a PDK. We all know what manuals are like and there's not a whole lot to screw up. I do think there's enough that I wouldn't order one based on PDK test-drive and vice-versa. OP, I'm also on LI so who did you order from R,SS,H or other ? I wish you luck with the new car and look forward to seeing it on the roads around here....
I made this mistake in the past as well by not test driving a car first when a couple of summers ago I bought a very low mileage Honda S2000 ... every write up on the car was great but I couldn't wait to get my title from DMV in the mail so I could sell it.

You would think I learned from it but heck ... I can't imagine Porsche messing up this new Beauty !!

I went to Huntington since that is the dealer that services my current car and it is close to my home.
