It looks like we might eventually get 'digital' 991's in good quality (console) video games
As you probably know, Porsche has given an exclusive license to Electronic Arts which means that you only have access to a few RUF's in Forza 5. Every once in a while, it seems that EA gives permission to others to feature P-cars in video games. There was for instance a nice Porsche stable available as downloadable content in Forza 4.
I just came across this trailer for a new racing game to be released in November (Project CARS). The footage looks almost to good to be true and contains 991'S (check the headlights at 0:20... and the complete car at 0:50).
Can't wait to drive my car virtually, foot on the floor and with zero concern about crashing it

Love the slo-mo of the 911 sideways coming over the cress with wheels spinning. Can someone figure out how to make that my avatar?

and the full size pic if you want to crop/resize yourself:
Just download the file and upload from your User CP/change avatar page. I so wish we could use animated gifs for avatars

Forgive me for I have committed the sin of pride again and posted way too many pics of my last track week end.
I just can not help it, the car is so great and works so well in all possible situations. If you look closely at some pictures (esp. when driving on the curbs) you will see what terrific job the suspensions do. The car was also amazing under the rain and always remained perfectly controllable. As usual with the exception of a few real track/race prepped car (oh, and did I mention Godzilla?), nothing could stay ahead of the 991S. This is all going to change when the GT3's will get their new engines But even then, giving a point by will more than ever be a sign of good manners and respect of the other car performance and of its driver skills.
The week end started under the rain:
As it was my first time at Barber with Chin Motorsports, I had to take a check out ride with one of their chief instructors under a torrential rain to join the blue group:
Looking at the trees, the Spring is just around the corner !
Then enjoyed the wet track a bit longer on my own:
Mirror. mirror, tell me what car is the fastest?
Over time, the track dried up and things became a bit more playful:
In de Melee:
Climbing on the curbs every now and then,
For my buddy Zack @ AWE, a pic featuring the AWE exhaust. OK, I should have slightly re-aligned the tips but hey, we are at the track!
In good company. #911Love
Now time to pass a few friends:
Cooling down, ... just another day at the office
Mmmm this brand new Lotus @ss smell... had to check on it
Luckily, the track police made sure the traffic remained fluid

Windows rolled down for DE's is something I do not like in general and most sidelites being made of tempered glass, there is no 'real' safety justification to it IMHO. You still need to give point by's but in some instances, people are using blinkers and it works just as well, if not better (more visible).

Thanks for all the nice words and here are a few more for you Chuck
Today was a nice day and my 2013 991 passed the 20,000 miles mark while we were up in the North Georgia mountains early morning.
I was asking myself how to pay homage to my favorite ride so far and remembered a session at Barber where the 911 passed 3 Corvette's of successive generations (C5, C6, C7) This is just a wink at our 'Vette friends. DE's are not about racing each other or finding out who is faster, but I found it was an amusing coincidence.

That's one of the great things with a group like Chin. People are mostly true enthusiasts who are levelheaded and do not try to hold back other drivers "because they have a faster car or a bigger engine". When you come across someone of roughly the same speed and skill level as yourself, you may engage in a collaborative 'game' with him: you follow and pass each other, but you never go above your comfort/control level and it never becomes a race. This makes for some of the funniest sessions I had.
Unfortunately some people sometimes see red mist and that's where **** happens. Very recently, a Porsche driver was so focused on catching up with an AC Cobra that he rear ended the E36 of a friend and highly experienced driver. That was at least my understanding. If you are too focused on the guy in front of you, you drive his line instead of yours and start losing your peripheral vision and spatial awareness
Finally, to do justice to 'Vettes, here's a video of an advanced group driver going around the track 1 to 2s faster than I do in a C5 Z06. The driver matters a lot more than the car!
