I would love to see the difference in your lap times changing gears manually vs. Sports Plus. Maybe next time out you can indulge me
#977
Its a great track, a bit scary, but thats part of its character.
#978
in addition to this, I have also tried the Sport Plus mode in 'fully automatic' mode and, believe it or not, the car is so good (or the driver is so bad) that shift points were the same in both instances

Anyways, cheers and best wishes for a safe and fun season.

Thanks for posting Serge. Love the video. Your impressions of PDCC on the track are of particular interest to me. So, the 64,000 dollar question: in your opinion is pdcc worth it (performance and cost)?

Photo update with latest mods.
No major modifications (bolt ons only), just the essentials in terms of cosmetics and safety...
Here's the car after a good post-track detail:
BBI rollbar -Thx Eric @ Supreme Power- (used a bit of velcro to keep the harness in place until the next DE):
GT2 seats reinstalled:
Big mod: airbag sticker delete
Used the same combo as in the GT3: hardwired Escort 9500ix and control unit:
and Blinder Laser jammer:
35% tint side and rear:
'Carrera S' decals
15" Brembo's front and rear:
Rennline Studs making wheels swaps a lot easier:
...and an assorted Porsche flag on the garage wall to make sure the kids do not park on my spot!
No other mods scheduled for now. I am itching for Fabspeed headers... Had them on the previous 991... loved them... sold them too quickly
Maybe if David is running a promo where buyers can get a second pair at lower price

PDCC+S/PASM is a must have in my opinion. I nevertheless would like to have the car sitting 1/2inch lower. I'll check if aftermarket springs are fully compatible with S/PASM and PDCC (I think so). My previous 991 sat on SpeedArt springs, made by H&R if I remember well, and it had a slightly more aggressive stance.

PDCC is worth every penny! It definitely improves the car performance. Of course a few purists will argue that it makes the car even more computerized etc. but why reject progress? I loved the rawness of the GT3 (maybe not in everyday driving though ) and I love the technology and performance of the 991 just as much. The effort/fun you lose in 'physical' involvement can be used for getting a cleaner, more accurate line and achieving higher speed.

Definitely flatter. Biggest improvement at turn 1, 5 and 7 rather than the esses or the slower 10a & 10b I think, but this is subjective. Also seemed easier to break traction and rotate the car at 7.
Both the previous and new 991's are PDK (changing gears manually of course).

Salut Serge - I wonder how much of the improved lap times can be attributed to the aero package, in particular the rear wing, as I believe the front spoiler is probably there for looks more than anything else. Assuming, the rear wing creates more downforce than the stock spoiler, that would also explain your improved lap times. Do you know how much downforce is created and at what speed?
Good question regarding the aero package. I have no data about the downforce but it surely helps.
When you look at the speeds through or out of the turns, I am not sure that the aerokit helps you there (too slow), but it definitely makes the car more stable in the straights. In spite of the fact that the aerokit is a bit of an 'airbrake' and could therefore be slightly detrimental to your speed, I pushed the car harder because I felt more comfortable doing so. Now is it hard to say if it is due to the aerokit, the PDCC or S-PASM -probably all of the above-.
Here's a one lap video from last Friday.
This was my best lap as there was little traffic, but I unfortunately only got to 144mph in the backstraight (passing the blue bimmer after turn 7, I could not track out as wide as I wanted and get back on the power soon enough). I never went above ~145mph with my first 991S there as I wanted to make sure I would be stable enough when braking into 10a. No such concern anymore and 155mph perfectly OK now. Maybe it was only me being a sissy too

By the way do you know of anyone one with technical expertise at PNA who might be able to answer a few questions. Thanks.

At the track for the first time! (Road Atlanta with Hooked on Driving)
People have all kinds of theories about break in. I am not a firm believer of any of them and assumed that 1,000 miles on the odometer was more than enough.
I got the car 'track ready' on Thursday: Re-installed my GT2 bucket seat, BBI rollbar, harness, 15" Brembo's front and rear, track wheels were still good to go for one DE and here we go:
The GT3 was so nice and raw, the 996 track car was light and fun, but the 991S is definitely so quick and smooth! It also looks like that the PDCC makes a nice difference: the last time I went to Road Atlanta with the previous 991S, my best lap was 1:45. With the new one -that now has PDCC-, my time now dropped to 1:42. Still no record-breaking time (not the intent and I am not a very experienced driver), but I have the impression that I got through -and out of- the corners faster than before. I hit 155mph on the back straight which is also more than what I did with the previous 991 (probably because I got faster out of turn 7).
Here's a quick video recap' of the day:

With a few more days of practice, I am convinced that a stock 991S (excepted for the Brembo's) can go well into the 1:30's territory.

I love the multiple angle and camera placement (chase car mount is super cool), man does your new swimsuit model look good strutting her stuff!
Can't wait to see some more pics.
Thanks for the awesome posts!
Cheers!
