SM_ATL's Carrera S Journal
I just traded in my -6 months old- Cayman R for a 991S. I thought I was stronger than that and could resist longer, but a clutch failure (after only 6,000 miles, grrrrrr ) brought me to the dealer who had just received a beautiful white Carrera S with the options I would have picked myself: PDK, PSE, Sport Chrono package (and a few others - I'll post a complete list later). The only important thing missing was the PDCC but the car does OK without it.
Here's a pic of the Cayman R and the new Carrera S:
This is only my second Porsche and my first 911 and I am the happiest man on earth
Once I get a car, I have a tendency of getting obsessed with it and spending months ...a some dough... making modifications and small changes to improve and personalize it. Do not hesitate to check the links you'll find in my signature.
I have a few ideas in mind for the new one, but nothing dramatic. Therefore the reason why I called this thread a 'Journal' and not a 'Build thread' this time, but who knows?
Hopefully more pics (and a few mods) this Sunday if the weather is good!

Thanks. More "different" the an upgrade in fact. The sum of everything the 911 contains is bigger than what the Cayman R was, but the Cayman's road feel and tossability where so great that I'll miss them.. Still, I made both a rational and emotional move when I went for the 991S that is so many things at the same time: comfortable highway cruiser, sharp and raging racer,...

Test drove a Cayman R a month ago and didn't care for it as a partial DD with no track planned. Test drove the 991 2 days ago set up like the car you bought and there was much to like. Benefits aside, I would not buy a PDK car and will wait it out until 7-manuals of the S are available to test-drive. Best of luck with your new car !

interesting and understandable at the same time.
and that´s exactly why the 991 will sell like hot cakes,
cause it is a "eierlegende Wollmilchsau" (egglaying woolmilkpig),
property of EricP

O/T - Couldn't help but notice your avatar. One look at it brings back reminders of just how f'd up our government can be.

Thanks to you all for the kind words (and for the pollen reminder )
I took the car out for a nice drive under the Winter sun this afternoon and took a few pictures on my way back. Sure it was a little dark already but it also gives an interesting color contrast.

Also took a quick pic of the rear brake lights with the spoiler up and down. The 2 sets of central brake lights are nice, but it is a bit of an overkill.
