SM ATL -- the car is looking HOT! love the seats and anxiously await your report on the new rotors performance.
Re Passport 9500ci -- I had my display etch-installed inside the rearview mirror. (The control is, like yours, in the smoker's compartment). I'm very happy with the display as it is -- I will take some pictures soon and show you guys in case you are considering doing the same.

I will also drop by for the 'Concours d'elegance ' next Sunday (but will not enter the contest).

I had not noticed the comment, thanks.
I am adding this post because I checked the first one of this thread where I said:
"I have a few ideas in mind for the new one, but nothing dramatic. Therefore the reason why I called this thread a 'Journal' and not a 'Build thread' this time, but who knows?".
What was I thinking???

Thank you. I think I have seen yours already in Roswell. I thought it had stock wheels (I am looking at your avatar) but I am probably wrong. Beautiful ride!

I do not know, I have not checked the Brembo parts# and it was sold as '991'. It is probably a kit used on other vehicles as it is already available.
The OEM stock brakes of the 991S are very different from the 997 though. Hence the reason why no aftermarket pads are available yet.

Lost... and saved
Someone just emailed me 2 pics of the last week end at Barber. Nothing to be proud of as a driver but shows the virtues of the 911.
Going full out after the BMW, bad line and too fast into '14', off track...

use the gas pedal wisely and the 911 gets you back and straight on the track! Love the car

First off, thank you for sharing the awesome journal of your 991 transformation. I’m relatively new to this forum and still learning how to navigate and post on the forum. I hope I don’t mess it up too bad.
I noticed in one of your earlier posts you installed the Escort 9500ci unit and I had some questions regarding your install. I’m thinking of installing the same unit in my new 991S cabrio. I’ve called a few authorized Escort dealers/installers in my area (Southern California-Orange County) and I have not been able to find someone who has installed this unit on a 991 yet. I'm trying to get an idea of how extensive the install will be.
Here are my questions:
1. Where was the radar unit mounted behind the bumper? Center, upper or lower portion of the bumper? Can you elaborate how it was mounted behind the bumper? I've heard the higher the radar unit is mounted on the bumper, the better the detection.
2. Are you getting good detection with the unit mounted behind the bumper?
3. I assume you had the GPS unit mounted near the car’s antenna. I’m wondering if the GPS unit and/or the radio antenna would interfere with each other. Since I have a cabrio I have no option but to mount it next to the car’s antenna.
Thank you.

-the radar detector is mounted behind the bumper, as high as possible, but do not have pics or details available. Of course the higher, the better!
-Seems to be working fine. Goes off a lot less than the V1 I had before, but I'd say there's a lot less false alarms
-the GPS antenna is installed behind the seats under the backlit. Not possible with a convertible but in fact close to the OEM antenna.
Overall, the system is working OK. I got an issue last week with the rear laser jammer that was throwing alarms every 2 minutes. The rear sensor/jammers is being replaced under warranty.

Thanks Sid. Brakes feel firm and solid but I'll have to get to the track to really test them. The seats are amazingly comfortable. There sure is no adjustment and you better not be too tall, but they are really snug whitout being too firm. They will certainly be OK for long trips. Should be an option offered in the US!
Cheers!

SM_ATL, your car looks beautiful. I found the attached picture in wikipedia and noticed that you car and the attached GT3RS have similar themes. Your car looks beautiful as it is, but I would not be surprised if next thing you decide to do is to add more "red" touches to your vehicle.

Here's my personal take:
-exterior: yes, I love the stock look of the car too (except for the ride height) and it is one of the reasons I have not sold my wheels yet. I may go back to something more discrete/stock at some point, but I enjoy the track theme for now. Nicoff is right, the wheels are painted in 'GT3RS red', but going for red decals would be a little too much for me. This being said, I LOVE the GT3RS.
-performance upgrades (incl. seats that are more for function than form): no way I am going back to stock there I continue to work towards what a 991 GT3 would be from a performance, suspension, weight and other technical parameters are. Of course the engine will remain the existing 3.8!

Interesting and contrasted opinions!
