If our roads were better and it wasn't my DD it would be the F430. I'd have to research the upkeep a little more - but that is the pinnacle (within reason). Best sound in a sub-$200k car.

 

Why not add the 2013 GTR, Ford GT, and Audi R8 to the mix. I believe someone on here got a R8 Spyder V10 for 150k. IMHO that is a lot of car for 15K more than your current budget. Not to mention Audi service is much cheaper.

Just getting out of the GT3RS, I was thinking my next move to be a Scud or 991S but then decieded on a 2013 GTR which will be replaced by the 991 GT3.

 

If an SL will be "too common" for your weekend car, well, 911s aren't exactly rare in the NY area...

I owned an F430 for 4 years. Wonderfull car. I traded ir for a 599 just for something different. If you have never owned a Ferrari.......

 

I drive my buddies F360 Spider on the weekends in the summer while he is travelling. Can't beat the Ferrari sound and agility. I just got my 997.1S as my daily driver and love it for that purpose. I would go F430 spider for the weekends. When I can, I'm gonna get one.

I have to admit that I am asking the same question. Wasn't supposed to be asking the question in the first place...lol. Drive a nicely modified e92 M3 with Eisenmann Race exhaust and really enjoy the vehicle. Have always admired Porsche 911's and was invited to the reveal of the 991 and just could not get it out of my mind. Went for a dealer test drive with my wife yesterday and we both had the immediate desire to sell/trade the M3.

When I came home I started to think about what I could buy for the same amount (about $143K in Canada), I started to think about one of the other options that I have thought about on and off...R8 V10 (pre-owned).

So, now, I am also wondering 991 Carrera S or R8 V10?

 

Coming from an E92 M3 then a 997.2 (2011) the M3 is superior to the 997, but the 991 is superior to both. Go with the car that got your mind to stray in the first place - Porsche 991.

I don't know why I don't love the R8's. Like a lot, not love.

I think that part of what appeals to me on the 991 is that each generation you don't have a revolution per se, but an evolution of the product. In that sense, it seems like more of a timeless design.

One thing I forgot to mention was listening to that Burmester audio system...I have never heard audio like that before in a vehicle. Blew me away.

A reasonably well optioned 991s is $135K with tax. A turbo, all in, is likely to be a lot more than that. The dealers are dealing on the 997s, including new, but leftover 2012s. You can get a lot of car for that money. But, as I just traded up a 997.2 for a 991s (still waiting) my answer would be biased.
