5 long months, finally over!
After ordering my new 991 back in September, 5 long and torturous months are finally over and I picked up my dark blue metallic/black C2S yesterday.
In the short day that I have had it, I have to say it has been the most visceral and thrilling experience I have ever had in a car by far. This thing growls and gurgles like an animal. The paddle shifters are a total blast and now that I am used to the car a bit more and able to keep it in decent rpm, it feels really insanely fast.
On my way home in stop and go traffic I heard a pedestrian say "that SOUND!" then he ran up to my window and said "what a gorgeous car!". That was in the first 15 minutes of driving it home.
It really looks and feels special and driving it is an event. The Burmester system is also utterly impressive. If a fairy came and offered to magically improve my car stereo, what would I like improved? I would be at a loss for words. That being said, I'm so into the engine sound right now that I only turn the stereo on during longer freeway stretches or in heavy traffic. Any engaging stretches and I find myself turning the music off.
More/better pics soon (I was just too busy driving it yesterday!). Dark Blue Metallic needs a little more representation...it is just GORGEOUS.
Best,
Arthur

Arthur:
Congratulation on being able to wait that long; I'm in the same position and not sure how I'm going to make it. I had a dark blue '71 and thought it was the most sensuous color ever but unfortunately I had a hard time keeping it clean. That and living in the hot zone have caused me to go to lighter colors.

Arthur,
Congrats and thanks for the great write up! My C2S is scheduled for completion tuesday, so a few more agonizing weeks to go. Your impressions hit all the right notes with me.........the things I have been anticipating have been confirmed by you (this will be my first 911). I too ordered the PSE and the Burmester..........glad to hear the glowing review of the stereo. Can you comment on the sound quality using different sources (CD vs. MP3 vs. DVD-A)?
Please post up some more pics?!

Yeah I tried to put my options in my sig, but I'm still settling in here at 6speed...
So, it is Dark Blue Metallic/Black standard. PDK, 18-way adaptive sport seats (LOVE) with heat+vent, Sport Design Steering Wheel, Keyless entry (not sure I love how this is executed), Voice Control (maybe sucks...tbd), Sport Chrono, PSE, PASM (-10), PDCC, Burmester stereo (amazing), sunroof, full paragraph on the back (no deletions), standard Carrera wheels (love them).
Notice that it is quite generously optioned, came in just under 130k before taxes. I held off on the full leather, but I would choose it now if I could go back. That being said, the interior is lovely...the partial leather even has the full roof lined in Alcantera (just the pillars miss it). I was surprised about that. There _is_ a lot of leather in the standard interior. The big spot where it is missing is obviously on the front of the dash. I had set myself a hard limit of 130k and I was prioritized performance options over lux. I made my choices and I got almost everything about right so I'll sleep fine about it.
Man the noise this car makes when I downshift on the paddles...it barks like an angry dog. I don't think that will ever get boring. I really have to stress to anyone on the fence about PSE to DEFINITELY GET IT. Yes, the standard sound is improved and good but PSE makes the car sound really exotic.
I also jammed a child seat into the back already (my 2 year old is enjoying his new ride). For those interested, I got a new model Britex to fit. I'll check the exact model number if anyone cares.
