Latch car seat

Hello All,

I currently have a 997 and leased it after my wife and I decided to only have one child. I have a seat in the back for my 5 year old and she loves it. But surprise I now have a 2nd child. A one month old and I am considering getting the 991 because it has the Latch system in the back. Does anyone know of a new born seat that will go in the back rear facing.

I live in california.

Thanks,

J

I doubt it will fit. The rear facing seats need a huge amount of space.

Bummer. Even on the passenger side? With front seat pushed forward.

You may have luck with the Cybex Aton.

Confirmed, a Cybex Aton will fit in the back of a 991. The base fits properly in the rear seat using the LATCH connectors. With a normal backrest recline angle, the passenger seat must be moved all the way forward. With a slightly more upright recline, the seat could be moved back by a couple of inches. I'm 5'10" and I could sit in the passenger seat without bumping my knees on the facia. It would be tolerable for half an hour.

THanks for the info. Thats very very helpful. Did you by any chance snap any photos when you put the seat in?

Thanks again,

I'm afraid I didn't take any pics. The baby seat fits properly and doesn't touch the passenger seat. It wasn't too hard to install the carrier in the base with the passenger door fully open. Once it was in, it looked very secure and safe back there. We have our 997 front passenger seat configured with LATCH connectors, and I have to admit I felt a lot more comfortable with the idea of our baby riding in the back seat. I think the proximity to the rear wheel would provide a lot more protection in a side impact.

if a carrier is tough, is it safe to assume that a regular car seat (after the the baby turns one) would be nearly impossible to install facing backward?

We haven't tried them yet, but I'm hoping the Maxi Cosi Pria 70 or the new Clek Foonf will fit. If not, we may take the risk of installing a forward facing seat at that time. Most of the convertible car seats are absolutely huge. It's hard to fit one in the back of our Range Rover Sport when installed rear facing.
