So what shortcuts did Porsche get into with the 991 this time?

Just in case you did not see it... now THAT is a design!!

I tend to agree that the 991 interior looks more luxury than sports. Not exciting, and the center console indeed feels confining. I don't dislike the 991 interior, but I do like the 997 interior better.

Let's hope they didn't skimp on the steer by wire electronics!

991 inside looks like that of an efficient 100k car and F interior is interesting and i5 will look 90% of what you wish it will look like. So what? What about ergonomics?

I respectfully suggest that you stick with your soon to be 10 year old car that was designed over 10 years ago. That way you won't have to stress about how the 991 is not as you think it should be.
I think there comes a time as we age that you just realize that what you have is good enough and you will not be upgrading anymore. Have you come to this point?

Design
Agree but that is not what I wanted to convey. I said " THAT is a a design". Agreeing with Manifold. the 991 interior is not bad for a luxury cruiser (watered down for the general public) but the 997 interior (especially the TT of course) definitely is a no-holds-barred sports car with brass *****.

These same arguments existed when the 997 was about to replace the 996.... I'm sure Porsche's marketing team has done their homework and are producing a car to maximize profits and reputation. I think it looks nice and, at least in pictures, the interior looks nicer than my 997tt. Personally, I feel my (same model yr) 335i has a nicer looking and more functional interior/electronics... original sticker $50k vs $150k and with less than $2k of mods will out pull the 997tt in a street race. There are many reasons to get a nice car, some which cannot be quantified. Get what you like and enjoy it without second thoughts or the need to justify it!

I have a really nice Les Paul from the 1980s which Kerry Livgren of Kansas owned for a decade and used to record one of his solo albums. Stole it for $1400 on Ebay a few years ago. I'm hanging on to that one!

Oh dear! Breaks my heart to hear that. I'm guessing it would be worth five figures today.

Sold a 1961 Strat with slab rosewood neck 2 years ago for 17K .. Someone should have kicked my a$$$ . Should have kept it .. it would have done better than Wall Street for sure for the next 10 years if Obummer gets re-elected.
Have a PlayBoy Strat... under the bed :-)

Hopefully no RMS or IMS, or plastic coolant pipes or 2nd gear pop-outs etc. So what will it be this time gear-heads?? I bet some of you have already jacked up the car and pushed and pulled on about everything below and above the belt. What is there that you just don't like?
