Partial leather remorse
I love my 991s. I am smiling ear-to-ear when I drive that beast and sometimes I sneak down to the garage in the night to fondle it. My wife caught me once.
Drivers in SF are very bad and yesterday I downshifted and made the car roar at someone so loud that I am pretty sure they pulled over and cried.
But I digress...I ordered it back in Sept and info on the options was spotty at best. By the time I locked the order, I was just under my arbitrary limit of 130k (pretax) and had made the best choices I could with the info I had.
I got a lot of things right with it: (imo) pdcc, Burmester, front/rear sensors, vent 18-way seats. Everything I ordered, I would order again. I made a decision, however, to go with the standard interior in order to keep under my limit, and because I did not feel full leather was very important to me at the time. I did tour 997.2 interiors before making this decision.
Now I regret getting the standard interior. It would be nice to have the a-pillars in Alcantera. The silver trim omission from the doors was not well represented on the configurator on the early days of ordered. I still love my car, I had specific and good reasons to order so early on, but it does bug me.
What should I do? Drive it, enjoy it, update it in a few years? Go to a luxury saddlery/customizer and get some leather in there on the doors/dash? Stop crying about my 1st world problems?
More gratuitous pictures attached, although not of the interior in particular. Yes, that is me in the driver's seat.

I'm struggling now with the issue of full leather interior vs standard. After seeing the Tech Art car I'm thinking I may go aftermarket and have a shop here do something custom. The cost may be more (almost certainly) but I do know a shop or two that does very high end work. In fact, as I type this I'm thinking if I want to go full leather why not spring the extra and get something truly unique?
Do you have local shops that can do that sort of high end work? If so, go talk to them and get a quote. Worth a shot.

That is funny...I like how you said "my wife caught me once"
I think everyone second guesses a purchase like this. Bottomline: Consider yourself a very lucky man. You have a beautiful car, one of the nicest on the road. I would not touch a thing in that interior. Leave it alone. That is my .02 cents.

i never understand the allure of full leather. these are surfaces you don't touch so who cares? full leather on dash can warp under sun. the only thing i don't like about vinyl is that they can rip easily with a sharp object.
porsche options are endless and expensive. i spend money on engine sound, suspension and maybe a few tech goodies. the other stuff is, well fluff to me.
if it really bothers you, i recommend palo alto upholstry. they do great work and can wrap which ever panel you need. it's not cheap though.

Wonderful car and pics - I love the navy exterior. Honestly I felt the same way when I got mine and frankly you really forget about it. We have full leather in the Cayenne and I definitely do not enjoy driving it or being it in more then the Targa. I actually would order it without full leather if we could do it again and save the 5k.
Enjoy it in good health and if you want you will be able to order some leather pieces from a parts parts but I would definitely keep it unless a new iteration comes out that sparks your interest.

Re; int. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to order the aluminum door strips from the dealer and have it installed.
I agree it does make a big difference.
And like gameover said, use this as an excuse to have some custom work done and create something specific to your own tastes.
Personally I would have loved the 2 tone black and red leather int. (as the grey and black option) 'cause the all red is just a bit too much for me.
So I ordered it in standard black and have the 2 tone red done as a custom project.
Regardless, you've got a beautiful ride, congrats and enjoy!

I really hope it can slide on, be glued on or something like that...
Thanks for the heads-up.

The a-pillar covers in matched alcantara are order-able parts that will simply snap into place. I recommend you order these. They are the main problem with the partial leather interior. I can't imagine they would be more than $275 for the pair. Although I have no basis for this price estimation.
Let us know. Sorry about he dash but the black dash looks great in non-leather.
As Buckwheat accurately stated - BR goes with the large car purchase, always. I call it the "new car blues". This too will pass.

He's bumming about the lack of Alcantara a-pillars which are quite noticeable. Not necessarily any leather surfaces.

You guys make me feel better (not that I'm feeling all _that_ bad in my new 991).
I guess everyone will tend to doubt the things they decided not to option, eh? And the ones who optioned everything are probably wondering if they overdid it. This is my first ordered car, and my first 911, so it is an interesting experience indeed.
I'm very encouraged that I can buy the a-pillars in Alcantera (thanks Eric). I had no considered that. That would go a long way. That and the door trim, if that proves feasible, and I'd be really quite satisfied I think. Those were the two things that kind of surprised me as the configurator became more accurate during my long wait.
I already have the booster seat in the back and my 2-year old loves riding in this car. He is just learning to talk and he told me "Porsche goes vroom. The Audi is slow".

Awesome car and build. Having seen the car firsthand, I personally don't think you are missing anything with the interior you have. Those adaptive sport seats are awesome. As the others have said, BR affects us all. Make a few small changes to customize it to your taste and you'll have the perfect car. One both you and your son can enjoy for many years to come......or at least until the next order!

I don't have the leather, but found everything else we wanted on our 2009 (pre-owned). Every time I get into the car, it smells gorgeous, feels luxurious but serious, and frankly..feels new. I don't know exactly how that is. But it is. I love it. :-) Enjoy yours, it's brilliant!
