Congrats on your new car Newman and for its imminent and safe arrival.
I found out today that my VIN has been issued and it will move to port likely within the next week or so. My dealer is still stating that their system cannot show the ship its on.
AG991-Since we may be on a similar schedule, please let me know when your dealer gives you your boat's name. Thanks!

Just ran the vin through a decoder. Interesting. Ours should be identical but for the last 4 digits which appears to be the sequential chassis number. Mine was 1636. I guess, and it is only that, that mine is the 1636th 991 produced. It may also be that it was the 1636th 991s produced. Your 991 was completed before mine so your number should be lower. The number to the left of the last 4 digits should be 2 and somehow relates to the engine type. I don't know, but I wonder if it would be a 1 on the base.

Not sure how that is possible. But, hey, who would have thought 991 came after 997? New math!

It's a small small world
Porsche in Upper Saddle River NJ and is anthracite brown. Just found that interesting. They also had a car with a VIN in the low 300's and No. ------20999.
Check it out.
Cheers

"On the water!"
Just got a call from my salesman - my car is on a ship! He estimates keys-in-hand at the end of this month or very early in April. He did not know the name of the ship but said he would try to get it. Also said that, while he was not an expert, he was reasonably sure that our cars would be on different ships. He thought that a ship might make more than one stop to unload on a trip, but usually there were enough cars heading for each of the major ports to fill a transport and it would be unlikely that the same ship would go east coast and gulf or west coast. I will let you know more when I learn it and please keep in touch. I hope we are both driving soon!

Great news for both of you - seems that things have really let loose and the cars are moving. The ship my Cabriolet is on is called the Cougar Ace and it carries 4800 - 5000 cars; cannot imagine the logical nightmare that must be when these ships go into the ports!
I saw you comparing VIN numbers - the last five digits on mine is 54232 and it shipped on March 1, and it due in Rhode Island on the 13th.

Hey, if we assume all of the 4,800 cars on that boar are Porsches and we assume $100K/car that is 480 million dollars worth of cargo!

You are probably right about the "5" - it supposedly corresponds to engine or body type; must be for the Cab S. Don't know about the serial number 4232 - your quess is probably a good one, would that mean that only 232 Cabriolets have been produced so far in the 991 series?

Don't let your sales person tell you otherwise. They have the ability to see EXACTLY the ship your car is on and the day it is scheduled into port.
They have no excuse except being lazy for not giving this info to you.
