Gift From Porsche
I received a nice gift from Porsche yesterday. It is a book about the 991 along with a plastic base with my name on it. There are slots in the base that 7 clear plastic pieces slide into each with an outline drawing of all seven versions of the 911. Porsche calls it the "limited-edition 911 Evolution desk exhibit."

If you can figure out how these goodies get distributed, you can probably explain derivatives to me. I received a card in the mail that I forgot about. Found it a month later and sent it in. I've purchased 20 to 25 Porsches since my first in 1979. That may have something to do with it.

I got mine (just put it here in my office) and I keep thinking that Porsche must spend a fortune on these trinkets. It came in a huge, and really nice box that must have cost a pretty penny to ship.

Yeah, but this "gift" ultimately cost me $120k+ as it got me to go take a test drive!

A couple of things I noticed. When you compare the initial 1963 911 with the 991 it does look substantially bigger which surprised me as I had a '66 and lots of others since then and I really didn't notice the growth. If you look further, you will notice that there is not that much difference between the 997 and the 991; the major difference happened in 1997 which is much longer and higher than the 1963 version.

PS Anyone notice that the gas filler is on the wrong side due to the year lettering placement (although in thinking back to my '66 it may have been on the left)?
