991S or slightly used '11 ttS

I was at my auth. dlr. yesterday getting the details on the 991. I would order a 6spd manual when the X51 option comes available. As I was sitting there they took in on trade or consignment a beautiful 2011 Black ttS with about 7500 miles. I wonder if anyone here knows about this car now at Porsche Santa Barbara. Anyway I figured 130+ for the 991 or the ttS could probably be had for 135-8K. If anyone has had a drive in a ttS, you know the allure, but the new car seems in a way so much fresher, with better technology etc. Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Over/under of 9 pages and allot of fierce discussion.

Anyway...Since your going for the x51 package I would think power is key for you.

I would lean towards the TT but there is no wrong choice.

Good luck

Both are superb cars.

Difficult choice, but I personally would lean towards the ttS. I'm not really a turbo guy, but the ttS is so extreme that it would be hard to resist.

Wiki says the turbo does 60 in 2.6 seconds, so if it's acceleration you want (and you confirm that time is correct) or you want a collectable, take the TT. The 991 has a VERY sophisticated design which I'm thinking makes it a better overall DD. Then there's the alternative of waiting for the 991TT and getting the best of both.

Stand back and look at it... The 991 - currently available - is the kid on the 991 block. The better versions are yet to come... So you will be buying the junior edition. In the red corner... ready to rumble the TTS. Nuff said!!

That one's a real toughy. I mean there's simply no disputing the enormous performance of the TTS. Plus it's the best of an era to date and jam packed with all the fruit option wise. Black too. Best colour in my book. Has the wide body, different front and rear look from the general 997 models distinguishing its unique presence amongst the 997 crowd so it's got a lot going for it. It's an awesome looking car still. I'm guessing it doesn't have any quirky trim colour? That could change the game.

Anyway i hear you on the 991S. Optioned up right with full leather and a lot of goodies it's a very sweet package. Can't deny it's surely one very good looking car. Saw it again yesterday alongside the 997S pdk Carrera and boy its a supermodel in comparison. Separate the two models and it's not such an issue but alongside one another the new car sure makes the 997 look dated. Incredible. Who would have thought a car like that could change 997's game so dramatically.....even up as high on the turbo level. As i said....tough call.

I think if you haven't owned a turbo then the choice is far easier. GL.

There's no comparison simply because of power. As previously said, since you're already considering the X51 as an option, you want power, so the Turbo is the way to go without any doubt at all.

Just has the same dilemma. Had a 991S all loaded up with 37k in options. Car kept getting delayed. I am now buying a new '12 TTS. All points pro and con are valid. You really have to listen to your inner leanings and make the call and don't look back. Looking back another generation, would you now rather have a 996TTS or a 997.1 S? There is a video on YouTube from road and track of the 2 second club.......#3 GTR, #2 TTS, #1 Bugatti Veyron Supersport. .3 second 0-60 difference between the TTS and the Bugatti........2.5 Million difference on the sticker. The video stated that the 997 TTS is the fastest Porsche ever, and is the vice president of the 2 second club.

Good enough for me.

Although I like having the latest and greatest, the TTS is not quite the latest, but it is definitely the greatest.

Buy the TTS and enjoy it, and consider yourself in the buyers cycle now for a 991 TT or TTS when they arrive.

TTS is a super car, one of the fastest in the world! I 'd definitely opt for it now OR lease 991S and buy TTS later...

If power on the straight line is the most important for you then go for 997tts

If 400 hp on 3120 lbs. is enough (it is very fast, actually) then the 991S is a better car all round.

I go for the 991S

If you haven't driven the TTS go do it. From all I have been hearing and reading the 991 is a great car and a turbo version might be in my future. But for now the TTS is just an awesome car. Drive it there is no better feeling than a couple of turbos in your back pocket. It is also a keeper car for the long haul where a 991s might just be a short term vehicle.

IMO, its crazy to pay 130k for regular 911. In a couple years they'll depreciate down to half that.
