Who is and isn't following the Break in period ... 2000 miles ?!?!

That's an excellent point - with all the electronics on these cars and having PDK, I don't believe that who can exceed the red line even if you tried. Just warm it up - I even wait several minutes after the oil temperature reaches 185 to make sure all the fluid in the transmission and differential are to operating temperatures.

Ignorant or just stupid? Break your motor in or find out the hard way when your out of warranty. You drive anything hard enough its bound to break. Any real Porsche tech will tell you that break in is key.

If you are leasing, drive it like you stole it. If you are buying, baby it as much as you want.
I have experience with vehicles in the 7 figures and it's all about proper maintenance.
Just enjoy yourselves.

Haha, I'll PM you if necessary, but it's just a point of reference. I mean nothing new, just historically significant.

I certainly wouldn't advise anyone to go out and launch their car on day one, and I am being reasonable with my own car as I break it in, but not using sport or sport plus and always keeping the RPMs below 4200 is not required for a safe break in today. It was true in earlier years, but today's cars are much better built - it's always good to warm them up regardless of mileage, still good to vary RPMs and run them through multiple heat cycles, but they do not have to be babied. The service managers and techs I talk to all confirm that position.
