Scrapes on the undercarriage - Help!
#16
I got my car Feb 19 and no scrapes so far. We have lots of speed bumps and crazy drive ways and ramps here. I doubt you would have had this problem had you stuck with regular pasm and not opted for spasm. My salesperson talked me out of spasm for this reason alone.

Sorry to hear about the scraping. I have to say, I was expecting the worst when I took delivery. However, I have not scraped once (almost 2k miles now). My 997.1 TT scraped everywhere. Hell, that car was so low in the front it could scrape while parked in the garage...

Hey, I resemble that remark!

Thanks all,
I am getting better at angles, and around town I am getting to know which parking lots to stay out of. Sid, if it is that easy to fix, I agree - I will do what I can to avoid it, but I won't lose sleep over it either.
Thanks again.
Sid, yours must be getting closer. Any news on the rear end question?

The 991 actually also has a smaller overhang so theoretically approach angles should be a bit better.
That said the 991 also sits a bit lower (with pasm or S-pasm).
Guess it all balances out in the end...
Re my 991 C4S... it's been real quiet!
I've test driven everything from an Audi R8, Maserati GT-S, Lambo G, Benz SLS, Aston DB9 etc, etc... in the end I'm sticking with the 991 C4S.
But this waiting is VERY anti-climactic.
Guess I'll have to live vicariously through you and other 991 owners a bit longer... it could be worse, at least through you I now have a "virtual" sence of humor.

Yep it's big difference with the previous gen lips...

Must have been fun to test drive such great cars. The only one of that group I would seriously consider is the AM, but it is a different kind of car, and too expensive for my tastes for what it is. You should start herring soon - they are making 2013s already.
As for my driving, I am just going to have to get better , I guess, based on the comments - the truth hurts, but it is the truth!

How are you enjoying your car otherwise?

we are actually going to be releasing front and rear sacrifical bumper protectors similar to the ones we have on the 458 Italias and Gallardo's... if you guys would be interested that is!

Yeah, apparently you are a poor driver because if you drove better your car wouldn't scrape Too bad you didn't get this priceless advice earlier so your car wouldn't be all scraped up.

Thank you, but it brings me no consolation at all - I hate the thought that you are having the same issue and that by admitting it you have opened yourself up to the multitude of critics of your driving ability (all of whom are not my wife - our yours in this case).
How are you enjoying your car otherwise?

The only thing I've seen scrape so far is that front plastic skirt that hangs low. It's right in front of the front tires and hangs about an inch down I think. That part dosen't really bother me since you can't really see it anyway, what would bother me is if I scraped that front lip on a concrete parking lot tire block. I ordered a new aggressive front lip from suncoast just in case if i do hehe.

hehehe I wouldn't worry about it being due to driving style.
It's not your first time to the rodeo.
That said I've got a really low front end on my current ride which forces me to take speed humps, driveways etc at extreme angels... to such a degree that if there's a car coming up behind me (or worse coming from the other direction) they always start honking, yelling or speeding up to put pressure on ya...
I don't let it bother me... I'm not screwing up my front-end because others think I should take these "obstacles" like a "normal" car does or because they think I can't drive.
Re; tests drives... yeah it sure isn't a bad way to kill some time till the C4S comes out.
BTW sorry for the delay in replying... it's my busy time of the year so not much time left to frolic around on 6speed, got to make some $$ to pay for these over inflated 911 prices.
Cheers!
