PSE, yes.

The sunroof on the 991 is not as noisy as the one on a 997. Consider the glass moonroof. Meaning, you'll use it more. I have test driven 991 at high speeds with the sunroof open. Only seen moonroof in pictures. Looks great.

I think the spoiler lifts more and looks more aggressive with the sun/moon roof open.

Roof is always open except when icy cold or raining - this has been an option on each and every car I've purchased. Go for it.

Cheers,

I really like the PSE. Very disappointed with sunroof. Keep in mind I came from an X5M with the sunroof being almost the full length of the truck. It barley opens and is rather noisy. Would have gone with the cab but I have another car when I want to go top down.

+1 on the PSE.

Wondering whether something is wrong with your sunroof? I absolutely love mine, it's open often and no noise up to about 50-60 mph. As I said elsewhere, I love the airflow it gives, with windows down or up. Being a cab person myself (but couldn't afford the reduced backseat space of a cab), I actually think it gives me >50% of what I'd want from a cab. Very happy.

I had the same issue with the rear seat space. I need to put my 4 year old in the back every now and then.
You are correct. around town (under 50 mph) it is nice. I do lots of highway and it is noisy on the highway. The X5M sunroof was great on the highway. All the way to 100 mph... Allegedly

I would not give up 991 just b/c of sunroof. I don't really care how it looks. I am in the car

We have an X5 as well, but I haven't tested it yet on the highway. I tend to close windows and sunroof anyway at that speed. I actually think the sunroof looks cool...

Is it the big panorama sunroof? We value our nice nights up here in the frozen tundra. In the summer, coming home from Road America every weekend I would open all the windows and sunroof. It was like riding in a convertible.

Honestly, I'd get the PSE just for the enjoyment factor, but that's just personal preference.

As far as the sunroof, it is nice to keep the sunroof cracked when the car is parked to keep the interior temperature down on hot summer days (as well as cooling off the interior quicker when you return). For me, this alone is well worth the ~$1500 cost, particularly given that you're facing summers in Austin.

Ditto. I have a convertible - An MGB. It hot I'm bald and the sunroof seemed like a good compromise for me. PSE? Well my B has headers and generates noise. Lots of throaty engine roar when the SU carbs are opened up. I look forward to pure porsche power and an awesome driving experience in my 911 but no excessive exhaust noise. But that is merely a personal preference If you want to hear the road of a direct injected flat 6- go for the PSE!

I asked about getting PSE retro-fitted and the dealer says its not even available from the parts dept yet. So I'm still considering all options.

PSE is cool, but really just an expensive sound enhancement (not performance-related). The standard exhaust already sounds really good. As for the sunroof, I had no interest. Adds weight and doesn't look great when open (and again, not performance-related; if anything, it has been argued by some to negatively affect performance).

PSE is a must, trust me, that was the main reason why I order a 991, especially when you down shift, it sounds AMAZING!!!!!
Sunroof thats your personal preference as well, but it doest hurt to have it if you can afford it...

Second that. I initially didn't order it but then heard it and quickly changed my order! The gargling and puffing is fantastic!

Yes, it's the big one. The kids really like it.
