991 S Cabrio Loaded vs M6 F12?
My cabrio wont be in till late august and i was born with no patience. Havent driven the new M6 but having a past M6 and 5 M5's im a bit famiiar with their product just not this one...the m6 will come in less than my 143K MSRP cabrio but to me its not just whats faster but how it gets the power down, enjoyment, refinement, and just fun factor!!
anyone in same delima as myself? educated respones need apply

I owned a 2012 650i xDrive cab, it was a great car, literally no turbo lag. Drove great and was very comfortable for everyday use. The M6 will no doubt be faster, but the 991 will handle better. They both now offer electric steering so I guess you'd have to drive both to find out for yourself.

If it was between the previous M6 and the 997.1, then the M6 is better in just about everyway. The new M6 is supposed to be bigger, heavier, softer, and quieter. I had a 07 650i and it was my favorite of 5 different bmw's. But the new 650i is more comfortable and maybe a tad faster, but lacks the driving enjoyment.
I have a lot of experience with the 911's, escpecially the 997.2 and the 991s. The 991 is such a dramatic improvement in everyway from the 997.2. Can not say the same for the new M6.
For me the new M6 is not even on my radar.

Thank you for the quick responses...the waiting game is just killing me!
I would imagine the M6 with turbos to be quite modifiable and should put up numbers north of 600hp-580tq...with possibly just ecu change and few nick nacks..but im not about all whats the fastest anymore and having had 60 days in a 991 S i was sold over the panamera turbo i waited 4 months on LOL....ugggh

M6 is nice but I just find it huge. When driving the 650F12 around I really could feel the weight. Strictly from an improvement and experience perspective I think Porsche really takes the win.

I was just thinking today about the M6 as my 991 arrives July...I will use as DD and then I thought M6 is much bigger and a very different driving experience from 991 and all that wonderful power in the M6 where could I use it .... I own a 650 08 650, ( lots of numbers), and enjoy it a lot dinan enhanced so will hold on to her as I enjoy my new 911

Here is my bias opinion. Today I went to BMW in attempt to rethink my order and possibly get an M5 before the 991 - something more practical. All in all I just feel that in BMW's quest to remain strong, independent, and profit (for shareholders) they have gotten away from what made them special, now possibly becoming to large for their own good. The brand has lost some mystique with so many vehicles on the road and the ///M symbol is seen on everything with nice rims and a skirt package. I also constantly get the "rushed" to close feeling when talking to their sales reps - "you ready to do a deal today?". They also seem to all have an interesting chip on their shoulders about how great ///M is..
Then they ask me the super question - so what do you drive? I respond "A Porsche, Targa4s" - silence fills the room. They know its not an upgrade for me and suddenly the tone of interaction becomes more humble and different. At this point and I hate saying this - I would consider a BMW (///M or non) a good daily driver to just boot around in that has all the bells and whistles. It hurts because I have owned 4 of them .. even the mighty E60 M5. If you are going to spend north of 100K on a car you really want it to be something you lust and gives you a wow experience. I felt that the NA V10 engine in the previous M6 was magical and regret never buying that car but frankly the new one does nothing for me and its just so so big. Now more then ever I really don not think you can compare a Porsche and a BMW - with the new range of cars (Cayenne, Panamera, 991, Boxster..etc) Porsche has taken it to another level while also keep the brand exclusive and well cared for.
P.S. I placed my deposit for 991 Cab4S today.

Thanks Manifold - I thought it would. I drove the M5 the other day and it was good but coming from my 997.2 I felt like I was wearing a condom the entire time driving. When and I need a 3rd car I might consider a 4 door from them.

I think this is very simple to solve. In 1999 I decided after over 30 years of dring Corvettes I would get something else. I read all the magazines and decided on the BMW M roadster. I went to the dealer and drove one. I was very disappointed. I thought it was slow and rough. So I thought I would get another Vette. My wife insisted I go drive a Porsche. I did and never looked back. The 996 was everything I was looking for. Forget the magazines they are crap. Forget what people here say they have their own agenda. Test drive the cars you are interested in and buy what turns you on. You are all that matters. Only please yourself your friends could care less they don't get to own your cars and they may like Buicks.
