biggest problem w key is that loop, the ring goes the wrong way making it impossible to "sit flat" funny every new porsche key i see everyone has the ring and hates how awkward it is... such an easy fix... but porsche doesn't notice?
never had a 997 key sit oddly in my pocket, clearly a design flaw nobody thought of.. keys are often ignored...

I did not experience any paint chips on my key after 5 month, should be no problem.

I would not recommend buying one from the dealer simply due to cost; You will however get a '3rd' key which may be useful;
The paint etc i got from automotivetouchup.com and will run approx $60 for the primer, paint to order, clear urethane;
The finishing urethane is critical as that prevents the chipping;

Hi - quick question on your painted key - you ordered from the factory with your car, correct? Did you end up with a third key that was painted in addition to the two black, or were your two black keys painted Guards Red? Have you found that the paint chips? My dealer is trying to convince me not to do it. He says it will chip. I really want one to go with my new 991CS Guards Red order!
Thanks for your help!
Thanks for your help!
Since i painted my own keys red and GT silver, i haven't used the factory painted key but it seems very high quality so i doubt it would chip.
