The Luckiest Guy In The World
#21
After a few more days of observation, a couple of more items that are proving to be nice:
1. You can force getting into the "sailing" mode by pushing the up-gear switch to "8th" gear.
2. The steering wheel I have has a much "softer" feel than my 2009 (or any other) and I'm liking the increased grip more and more.
3. The smoking package cover is classy compared to the hole you get when you don't order it.
4. It has good ground clearance so I don't hit my driveway going in and out.
5. The lights (both headlights and interior) are excellent
6. It's nice to have the speed limit shown on the GPS
7. It's nice to be able to see the speed you set on the cruise control and nice to be able to move it in 5 and 1 MPH increments.
8. It's nice that the car learns that you don't want it to shift into second quickly- especially starting up around a corner.
9. Nice to have a G meter.
10. The cornering ability is an order of magnitude nicer. I've only done .85Gs, but it is much more stable than my 997 so far-like it's on rails!
11. The trunk is much more usable because the sides are not irregular.
12. The key does not inadvertently open the trunk while I'm in the house sitting at the counter.
13. The lights turn on and off automatically.
14. The glove compartment is good size.
15. It has a volt meter so you can monitor the health of your battery.
16. No jerk in transmission when starting off.
17. Smooth downshift when accelerating and using a manual downshift.
And a couple soft spots:
1. Still has an overly lean mixture the first 1/4 mile after a cold start in warm weather causing engine misfire- after that, no problem.
2. Steering wheel interferes with the extreme left and right of the dash instruments.
3. Center console storage area is low and doesn't make a good arm rest- and it doesn't hold much.
In addition, it would be nice to save 40 pounds with an optional Lithium battery of equal or better starting performance- especially as it is available in the parts department.
On balance, a game changing premier automobile!
