Lots on the lots... Porsches that is.

Visited a Porsche dealership here in the Bay area. Well, there is no shortage of the 2012 cars for sure. They have them all in about any color but all with lots of options (I wonder why). I must say that you better bring a big wallet, there is basically nothing under 100K available (especially if you add the Sales tax to it). Saw a Porsche Speedster (cab) sticker price 206K and a RS4.0 for about the same amount. One of the new Panamera Turbo S showed its badge at 186K. WOW!! I hope that Facebook will be trowing off some dollars.

I understand the lack of interest in the inventory, the cars are simply just configured terribly. Here's the config of the 991s that I think will never sell unless the discount is steep. Note the car already has 500 miles on it.

With a few options, we are looking between 120 to 130+. That is base R8 and Vantage price. And a few other GT car. Not to say those are better car than a 991, but there are more selection in that price range.

To me the cars that I think will never move are the ones with $15k in leather/trim options.

To me this car doesnt look near as bad as some I have seen, although you didn't mention the colors. The majority of the options listed above are included in the Bose audio package and premium package plus with adaptive seats. The classic wheels, PDK and sunroof seem to be very popular, so those make sense. Aside from the PDCC the few remaining options are low dollar that probably only increase the price by about $2k total.

Yeah, doesn't make sense. Who'd spend $123K on this kind of config...should perhaps be kept as a loaner
#25
Nice color although maybe not popular, but a bunch of options tacked on that don't do the car a lot of good.
No full leather but PDCC, rear wiper, park assists, power steering plus, folding mirrors, 5mm spacers,.....what is the theme here? Performance or luxury? Seams just like a mixed bag here, no direction.

Visited my dealer to pick up the car after clear bra and return the loaner and found he had 4 cabs in inventory. The loaner did not have full leather, which to me makes the car feel a bit cheap and makes the door panel squeak. other than that the loaner was a great car. Options will make the difference on an impulse buy from inventory.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a 991 GT3 (assuming I like it when it comes out), but I'm anticipating that the price will be so high that a used 997 GT3 will be a better way to go. No hurry anyway, since I need to continue working on becoming a driver worthy of the car.
#28
Yes I do. There is a huge retail shock on these cars all the way from the Boxter to the over-200-K specials.
#29
My guess is there will be a minimum of 30 different 991. They might introduce 50th Anniversary PLUS..., I love it!

Bought my 09 C2S for $85k, Porsche was offering 1.9%, got a check in January from Porsche for $14.08 on pay-off.
No Nav or Bose, took the money I saved and bought a Tubi system from Champion.
If I could swing it, would buy a 2012 TT. Hennessy in ATL just sold a white TT, internet special, asking was $128k.
500 h.p., AWD v. 400 h.p.
To me, that is what is called a no-brainer.
