Which of these would you chose? Cab/Coupe
#16
I didn't notice the lack of PASM on the cab until you pointed it out - that would impact my decision. My car is a 991 S coupe built it to my specs and after driving it (1,500 miles so far) I very much like my build. Choosing a coupe v cab is really a personal choice. I could take either side of that argument because they are both great cars.

It was sport pasm I was referring to. Never previously having considered a cab I wasn't aware of the lack of that option on it.

The cab has lots of dollars tied up in non-essential cosmetic items, yet it doesn't have full leather unless I missed it. It's kind of an oddball, overly optioned car in some areas, yet under optioned in the performance category. I'm a die hard cab guy, but I'm not sure this sounds like a great car.

Thanks again to all for your comments.

Digressing a bit here but based on how you are explaining this whole scenario it seems dealer is a bit anxious to move inventory, this is good indicator of how the market for 991's seems to be. I mean when was last time Porsche ever discounted anything? I ordered mine and still waiting for delivery but I can tell you all that the lot at the dealer is pretty much same number of 991's as 2mos ago. I'm in LI, NY. Anyone else feeling same way?

The cabriolet that was offered is most likely a cancelled order and I don't believe that the dealer is desperate to shift the car. The car is optioned more for comfort and less for pure performance. It may not fit my bill but it is highly desirable and I have no doubt that it will sell soon.
A factor that affects the market for cars on the lot are that buyers of cars such as the 991 are enthusiasts and as such are picky about options etc. This becomes more relevant in this economic climate where one "wants to get it right" especially when purchasing high value items. Most of the cars I've seen on the lot do not fit my requirements and some must have been spec'd out by a Prius salesman... ooops!

The parts alone to add PSE are more then $2100 - Suncoast has the PSE for the 991S for $2500 and $3000 for the base 991. Installation without the interior button function is a 3 to 4 hour job (my dealer's rate is $135/hr) and 10 hours if you want the button to work. I was quoted over $5,000 with install and tax to install on my base 991 and the PSE parts are not readily available yet from parts.

In one of the two reviews I have read that does not like the PDCC the chief criticism was that it eliminates the fun of the suspension decompressing. That is something I can survive w/o, lol.

There have been pro and con comments about pdcc. After much thought and listening to "those in the know" I came to the conclusion that for the type of P car driving I do (spirited very windy/hilly/country roads) PDCC may be worth a try. As you know the PDCC issue has been debated on by the many but few seem to have based their opinions on live back to back comparisons.
I also took onboard comments from a member on another forum which gave me an unbiased opinion because he doesn't own any 991 but seems to know about P cars.
"I have driven both and you absolutely should get PDCC. It will pay for itself over time just in rear tire wear. Not to mention the advantages of the Dynamic Engine Mounts from the GT3 that can incorporated into the PDCC system with Sport Chrono.
You will have a 991 that rides as good or better than without while still having a car that is far superior in handling....
You will absolutely be amazed by the difference in tire wear because of PDCC because it constantly corrects the contact patch to the driving and road conditions..."
I also took onboard for what is I believe is factual...ish.
- A 991S with PDCC was quicker around a track
- Less body roll = more traction = enhanced speed
- More control/Safety
I therefore decided to give it a go. I know its a pricey option but hey ho let it save me from doing something daft just once and it'll have paid for itself!

I think the original question / decision has been made -- but I would stick with your build. No matter how long or short that car remains with you, do you really want to be in it and think I wish it had this, or would have liked for it not to have that?

The issue was to do with which car or choice to go with (as per the specs laid out in my initial post). My ordered spec was what I wanted and have gone for.... because it is the best spec for me!
